Do You Think Our Loved Ones Can Visit Us In Our Dreams?

My father passed away in 2011. He was very special to me. I remember that first year of him passing, I had several dreams of him. It's been a long time since I've seen him in my dreams. However, the other night he appeared. It was brief. The moment I said his name "Dad" he disappeared. I always wonder if it's really him visiting me in my dreams. What do you think? Do you think our loved ones can talk to us in our dreams?

This is a tough question for me personally. I guess it depends on the individual. Do you feel it was a dream or did it really feel like your dad was coming to see you? I'm not saying it was a visit and I'm not saying it wasn't. Because it's all very well and good to believe it was and it's fine to think it was just your subconscious. I've had my mum and Uncle come into my dreams and it has a weird feeling as if it was them really there and it makes me happy to think it was them popping in for a visit. I believe that whatever YOU believe in that makes you happy, is what counts the most. I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful. It's just I think it's fine to believe in visits from the deceased but I personally do not know how it works. I can't say "Yes they do visit us" because I would be lying. I really don't know. But really, at the end of the day, if they are in your dreams at all then that's wonderful. I'm truly sorry about your dad!

@pinkCardigangirl No worries at all. :) And yeah that is perfectly fine I reckon! Whatever you believe is always perfect and NO ONE has the right to try and convince you other wise. I do strongly believe in spirits etc I am on the fence about loved ones visiting us in dreams. I do believe they visit otherwise though so why not dreams too! It actually makes me think about my Aunty. Her dad passed away and on the night of his passing, before my Aunty even heard the news she woke up and saw him sitting at the end of her bed. When they both made eye contact he disappeared.

Sorry I've been away and am barely replying now. I think it will always be a mystery, but I like to think they do visit. Maybe that's something I just want to hang onto. :)

@pinkCardigangirl I'm not sure until I experience it. It would be wonderful if my momma visited me in my dream.

@theBlock I feel my parents many times during the day too, not just in my dreams. I can get a chill while I am on the computer and say, hi dad. I know he hears me.

I'm not sure. It would be nice to think so, but I've never seen any of my family who have passed in a dream. I have dreamed about things that were coming up and been told to do or not do something. I had a dream once about an ex-girlfriend being in a plane crash. I called her the next day and ask if she was planning to fly somewhere... when she told me she and her fiance were flying to Mexico, leaving the next day I told her about the dream... They changed their flight plans and drove to Mexico instead. They had a wonderful trip! Yes, the flight they were scheduled to be on had engine problems and had to return to the airport... It didn't crash, but who knows what could have happened had she been on the flight, after all...

@ramapo17 They called me from somewhere in Texas. (That was how far they had driven since they changed their plans.) After a big burst of... uhm... disturbed language, they finally boiled it down to, "THANK YOU!"

Both my parents visited me. My mother twice. We were out to lunch and talked about everything. It was so wonderful!

I'm sure they do. One time in particular that I'm sure happened. I had this dream about my grandma after she passed away and I went outside to go to talk to my mom about the dream I had, and when I went out side there was this beautiful white butterfly right where my grandma had been in my dreams. And from some kind of lore, they say that white butterflies are the symbol of someone who had passed away. While I normally would discredit to some form of coincidence, but the way it happened right after I woke up and went to talk to my mom, I wouldn't have believed it.

@LeonGao I never heard of it. I might have to check out my favorite bookstore out here. I love learning about new things. Especially topics like dreams. And yes, I worry about your grandmother. I just want everyone to be okay and happy.

If we long for them I feel they do to tell us to carry on with our lives. It has happened few times for me with my loved ones and also one for whom I had worked for many years - siva
