@puddleglum We were there late October. It was pretty warm but not unbearable.

Isn't it? There was so much going on there, with the architecture, scenery and melting pot of cultures.
It was very hot when I went. Did you all go in the summer?

@JudyEv That seems like a better time to go than July, which is when I was there.

Thanks! I'm not sure where this challenge first started, but it's fun.

@AmbiePam Yes. It was very brief, but I did get to take a bus tour and shop for souvenirs. Touristy stuff. It's really pretty there, and the architecture is unbelievable. I thought OK was hot in the summer--but it was even hotter there!

I loved The October Country stories too - Never been to Uganda but I sailed on a ship called the SS Uganda

@puddleglum it was used as an educational cruise ship in the 70's and as a hospital ship during the 1982 Falklands War

That's pretty cool. I didn't know there was such a ship.

@arthurchappell How interesting. I've always wanted to ride on a large cruise ship. It seems like it would be fun.
Once I took a dinner cruise, but that only lasted a few hours.

@BelleStarr Good choices. I really like Emma, she's probably my favorite heroine (she's not that heroic sometimes, which makes it even better.)

Her books are delightful. I was thinking: the character that first pulled me into Jane Austen was Mr. Bennet in Pride and Prejudice. His dry, acerbic wit captured my attention the first time I opened the book years ago, and I've loved the books ever since.
Do you have a favorite Austen character?

@puddleglum I missed not having to bring in treats when I was in school. And I never went through the birthday machine - all the kids lined up on either side and swatted you as you went through. Now though, a nice summer birthday is fun.

@just4him That's too bad you missed the birthday machine. When I was in school, I missed getting to lead classes info chapel on my birthday. You're right, though, it's better to have a summer birthday once you're grown.

It's an interesting city. I saw all the fast cars and modern architecture, and then I saw the older part of the city. It resembled (and smelled like) an old fishing village. It was such a contrast. I think a few decades ago, the whole city was more like that.

Thanks! It's about the time of year for fruit with whipped cream. Oh boy. Now I'm getting hungry. Haha.

@puddleglum Mmm! I love berries with just plain heavy cream. And peaches and cream later in the summer
