No Such Thing As A Quick Phone Call

I decided to call one of my best friends this morning to wish her a Happy Mothers Day. I started my conversation off by saying it was going to be quick as I had things I had to get done and couldn't spend a lot of time on the phone (which is our routine) but wanted to make sure she got my good wishes.
Well, long story short it's now an hour and a half later and my intention of quick just didn't pan out. We haven't talked in awhile so we had a lot to catch up on.
As much as I enjoyed our conversation now I have to either re-plan my day or be extra speedy in getting done all the things I wanted to accomplish.
I have no regrets in talking for so long even though it wasn't my intention. Such is life and I'm blessed to still have good friends who enjoy marathon phone calls.

I find that the longer you haven't talked the longer the call goes. We have so much to catch up on it takes time to tell all the stories and then the stories lead to other stories and so on and so forth. I'm the same way, only got a few minutes to talk and then 2 hours later.... I'm glad you had a good visit and hope that you can still get the things on your to do list done too.

@Marilynda1225, my friend and I are the same way. We actually try and schedule phone calls so that we can have everything out of the way so that we can just visit. The scheduling works very well.

My friend and I are both busy so when it comes time to talk we do have more than a quick hello to talk about

That is why I text when I really don't have the time this way I can control it better.

@Marilynda1225 Yes that can be a big problem but at the end of the day a phone call is lovely and the rest can be worked out.

Unfortunately my friend doesn't text and even though we're the same age when it comes to things like this it feels as if she's so much older than me.

I don't mind chatting on the phone but like texting too if I only have one thing to say. With my children I usually start off my phone conversation with "too much to text" LOL

I do feel lucky that I still have friends and we can spend time on the phone even though we don't get much of a chance in person anymore

There are a few people who I am like that with if I have things to do I have to ignore the call and text them because if I start talking with them I will not get anything done because I will do like you and be talking to them for a long time.

You are right that certain people do take up a lot of chatting time and normally I do text if I don't have the time to chat but today I needed to send my wishes in person. When you get older you realize that friends are few so time spent with them is precious

My mother has a friend like that, and the man I ride to church with can be like that. Some folks just have the "gift of gab" !

I have no regrets and I treasure my friendship with my friend. As life goes on and the older I get the more I appreciate the friends I have

You won't have your friend forever but the chores will still be there when you want to do them.

Well, look on the bright side. What if an accident occurred and that phone call was because you were not supposed to be where you wanted to be at that exact time.... and you are safe now :)

I too like such phone calls rather than a host of them wishing me on my birthday.

Haha it is strange when things do not go to plan. I speak to my aunt every Sunday evening for at least half an hour. She is in her 80's now so one week she calls me the next I call her. Apart from that I never use the phone but my wife does all day long practically!

It was like that with my mother, but it was every day. I miss those calls now.
