Back to my daughter. We have finally found three medications that mixed together and tweaked for the right amount have given her some semblance of normalcy in her life. Her manic episodes are far less than they used to be and do not last for as long as they used to. I am very thankful. Before these medications were found she would have manic phases that went on for months. One such one occurred back in 2009 when my granddaughter was still living here. She and my daughter got into some argument and so my daughter got mad and announced she was moving out of here. Well, we knew we couldn't afford to stay her on our own and so we moved out and found a little one bedroom we moved into. We lived there for three months. During that time, I saw my daughter once or twice and to see her in her manic all of the time and my grandson who was ODD at the time it was horrible. Out of control and both of them very weird. She had been living with her boyfriend. Finally, after these months, my daughter broke down and pleaded with me to move back and we would live in the apartment again. Well, luckily the apartment had been left and we were able to move back in. We were very lucky because we didn't have to pay for the three months we had not paid rent on the place and just had to pay up on the power and get it reinstated. That was all. We were very lucky! I had my daughter sign a document that I had written stating how her manic phases affected us(me and her son) and several other things I added before I would move back with her. She also had to get back on her meds and see a counselor. All things I made her do before I moved back in with her. I still make her re-read it on occasion when she gets bad again. Then we went on an odyssey of trying to find a medication that worked for her. That was in 2009 and it is now 2016. She had been on these medications for probably about three years now. So that means it took us four years to find some that actually worked. But, let me reiterate here......Medication does not erase the disorder. It brings the person to a balancing place in their life so they can deal with it and have a more positive and productive life. They may still have bouts of the disorder but, it is less pronounced and doesn't last as long. The medication helps, it isn't a complete fix. I am so thankful the meds doc found a combination of meds that are helping my daughter. She has probably taken everyone imaginable. It's been a long road and she is finally finding some normalcy. It is just that when she is going through a manic phase that I have a lot of stress and I write here to relieve that. Thank you to each and every one of you for listening and caring enough to respond with your ideas and opinions. I just wanted to make things clearer about the situation and its history. Thanks for reading. I hope this explains a lot you may or may not have understood before.

Since we have been friends and connected here for so long I can remember the moving out and the small apartment and the battles. I am glad there is some level and balance for all of you.

@Jessicalynnt ...She s coming back around. It just takes time. Probably about a month from onset to back to normal.

@celticeagle is wishy washy better than full out manic? or harder since it's inconsistent

I wholly understand you. My eldest daughter is bipolar and while she takes her pills and does to her doctor, all is relatibly well. But every now and then, she feels that she is healthy and she stops taking her meds. Back to page 1 She has more a depressive tendency and I worry a lot.

One thing about bi-polar people they tend to go off their meds once they have found some that work. That's a bad thing, but very common.

@celticeagle I know. And my daughter knows, in a rational way. But still, she thinks it´s a shame of sorts to have to take meds. And don´t we all, I tell her

Thank you for your very lucid article - it's not easy for some of us to understand about anxiety and depression, and this has helped.

Good. I just didn't people to think that meds are the magic option. They aren't totally.

Such stress for everyone. I wish you all well. I wish my Mom happier days too and yet I feel each and every day a deep relief that she is not living with us. Her failing mental state took such a horrid toll on everybody. Four bedrooms just is not enough for emotional earthquakes.

That sounds so stressful. I know my mom goes through a lot of stress dealing with me and my bipolar disorder.

Thank you for sharing all of the information on depression. Not many people are aware of all of this. So thanks again! I hope your daughter feels better soon!
