When technology fails

As if all the technical problems at BlogJob haven't been causing me (and many others) a lot of frustration (or worse), I was hit by my own technological problems tonight. I'd finally done everything I needed to do today and wanted to spend a little time online - only my internet connection wasn't working.
I've just spent about two hours playing with Photoshop while waiting to get online, and now, when my connection finally started working again, I really should be off to bed. Ah well, another extremely late night awaits me

I know that feeling! We used to be with another cable company and our service would go down occasionally. By the time it would come back, I'd just stay online to do things I'd been waiting to do, no matter how late it got! Not that I'm addicted or anything! lol

@CRK109 I've noticed that it happens to a lot of the people I communicate with online, but I'm not sure that the people I know in the real world would stay up so late unless something really urgent came up. Their priorities seem to be very different from mine.

I have to be online as I do home based work; therefore, I always keep a backup internet connection. One is landline broadband and the other one is plug in. Always keep a backup for internet. They can fail anytime.

@ramanandg It costs me enough to have one connection, so I have to accept that it does go down sometimes. Thankfully it doesn't happen very often and it doesn't usually last long.

@pgiblett That sounds really annoying. I don't watch TV online, so I don't have that issue, but I'd be really unhappy if it went down when I was in the late stages of writing a blog article or taking a survey, either of which could easily happen. And even when the internet is running properly, I've been having issues with Chrome crashing quite frequently. That could also cause a lot of problems if it happens at the wrong time.

@pgiblett I know exactly what you mean. One of my favourite things in life is caring for my bonsai trees but I often spend the time I had scheduled for that online instead. Had this problem occurred during the day, I'd almost certainly have spent the time working on my trees, but late at night that wasn't really an option. Under the circumstances I really should have gone to bed and forgotten about the internet until the next day.

@LadyDuck I'm still lucky because I got paid recently and only have 1000 points in my account right now. I want to go on writing there, but I'll wait until the rewards system is reinstated... if it is. If not, I'll have to move my blogs elsewhere.

Thanks @crazyhorseladycx . It really is one thing after another. I've got my Dad's car at a specialist trying to find out why the aircon isn't working, and I had to buy new tyres for my car yesterday. At least my internet problems didn't cost me any money

@crazyhorseladycx If it was just for me I might leave the aircon as is, but my Mom suffers terribly when exposed to extreme heat or cold so I need it fixed for her benefit. I'm terrified to hear what it's going to cost.

@Gina145 bless yer heart! i hope 'tis nothin' serious with yer dad's car. those aircon repairs here're quite spendy - to the point that many jest use the ol' 2/50 system. aka: roll down 2 windows'n drive 50mph, lol.
glad'jer stayin' positive, my friend. big hugs!!

After a week of nothing but computer problems, I can say that not being able to get online is the most frustrating. I may not want to go online, but it drives me crazy if I can't do it. As long as I can get online if I want to, I can happily sit across the room and knit instead of being online. But if I can't get online, I will spend all day working on the problem.

@Rollo1 I'm even worse than you are. Even when there are other things I want to do I find the lure of the computer hard to resist. I tend to neglect a lot of more important things, but today I've decided to work on changing that. I've got a list of things I MUST do today and most of them don't involve my computer.

Thanks @kevin1877uk . I guess it happens to everyone sometimes. At least it only lasted for a couple of hours and I didn't have to contact my service provide to find out what was wrong.
