The only draw back to eating lots of beef jerky is the high sodium content. LOTS of SALT in it! Other than that I'm not really sure if it would be considerd BAD to eat!

If you are speaking of the jerky you buy in the store, there are other drawbacks as well. You don't know where the beef comes from, how the cattle are raised, or what they are injected with to make them grow faster. Much of the jerky you buy at the store has been injected with growth hormones and antibiotics. The cattle are raised on "factory farms" under very poor conditions. The salt content being an issue depends on what kind of salt they use to cure the meat. There is a healthier alternative, but I'm new to MyLot and unsure of the rules here.

When I had gestational diabetes the only thing that I could really snack on without getting my blood sugar high was beef jerky. It depends how it is made and how much sugar is in it.
