"Do you have different table manners when you are at home and restaurant"?

How do you desribe your table manners? DO you think you can eat properly with knife and fork? Do you eat in a gentle way when you are eating at home alone? Will you use a fork or knife whem you are eating chicken or pizza at home? WIll it be different if you are eating with your friends or in a restaurant? Will you use the napkins or serviette in the restaurant or will you just eat in the same way when you are at home. Will you avoid some kinds of food if you are on a first date with your crush, like food that do not need a cutlery to eat? Have you ever seen any person who have awful eating manner which make you scare? 'Last week, one of my asian friend invited me to her home, there were few other friends there, she cooked alot of seafood like crabs, lobsters, osysters. She had prepared one of her favourite dish -chilli crabs. I do not like to eat crabs, not because of the taste, but because it always make my hands messy in doing this, when I am eating crabs in a restaurant, I will use forks, but my friend asked me not to be genteel when I was eating chilli crabs or it would not be delicious.lol. They just use their bare hands to eat the crabs, they even lick their fingers to taste the chili sauce.lol. I could hear the noise when the slurp the crabs into their mouths. I could not imagine women could also eat in this way, but I am wondering will the ydo the same in the public area where there are other strangers?'

It really depends on the situation. At home and at a typical American family restaurant, I'd have the same table manners, but I'd be more self conscious eating out in public. Eating pizza and chicken with a fork instead of hands is something generally only done by rich folks or when you're eating in a "fancy smancy" place. If I'm invited to eat with somebody of another culture that I'm not familiar with, then I'll do my best. Of course I wouldn't have exactly the same manners at that time because maybe the way they eat is different and I don't want to offend anybody, even though it's pretty much guaranteed that I'll mess up at some point.

I eat very like I eat at home and never lick my fingers for any type of food as to me that is gross to do whether at home or in a restaurant.

The way we eat is cultural. I have never been able to eat with chopsticks so I ask for forks at chinese restaurants. Eating with our hands seem to be easier for me though and I would not have problems with that if I have a toilet nearby.

Because of having to handle pets we use cutlery while eating our food at home but quite informal. In restaurants I suppose we are more conscious. Talking about crabs one cannot eat with cutlery at all. You will not do justice to it. But you can make a crab salad where flesh it removed and then a salad is prepared. I am interested to know how you use a fork, spoon or knife to tackle crabs at the table.

At home I am more casual. I eat fast so normally finish my lunch or dinner within 10 minutes or so. But when out at hotels or at some function I eat slowly so finish lunch or dinner along with all others.

In public or alone is different and it does depend on habits. Believe it or not there is a big advantage to eating with our fingers. They do need to be clean however. Licking is allowed just don't mistake fingers for food.
