Time to stop fooling around and get down some serious CCR classic rock. "Born on the Bayou" is CCR's signature song and second most famous tune. It is on the "Bayou Country" album and charted at number two on Billboard. This is the song providing the greatest impression the Northern California group seemed to really be a southern rock band. John Fogerty had never been to the south at the time and says he visualized it for this song. Whatever as those Bay area musicians got the southern blues swamp rock sound down pat. "Born on the Bayou" is a bit hard to peg with its odd yet notable lyrics like "old hound dog barking" and "rollin' with some cajun queen." The anti-establishment attitude is there: "Son, don't let the man get you to what he done to me 'cause he'll get you." What everyone remembers is "chasin' down a hoodoo." A hoodoo is a mystical apparition.

I figured that at least a couple of my favorites would make the cut. This is one of them.

proper driving rock sound - makes many later heavy metal merchants sound amatuerish

They just don't make songs like this anymore do they? And you have to love the uniqueness of their voices.

I don't really care what they sing. I love Fogarty's voice. :)
