My poor oldest son had a rough day today. As you all know he went to get the blood work done, and couldn't eat or drink until noon. He is one of those kids where the minute he opens his eyes he wants to eat every morning, so that was hard for him! He got the blood work done, and he said it hurt really bad. =(
After that we were home and the kids asked to play outside. I tell them every day do NOT go outside barefoot. He thought he was too cool to listen to mommy apparently because he disobeyed and went outside with no shoes on. He got a prickly in his foot and a small piece of glass too!! Tough lesson to learn on why we should listen to mommy.
He is doing better now that he's all cleaned and bandaged up but it's been rough for him!

He's a cutie. Kids will be kids. A good lesson to learn. It could have been worse.

Children are like that that is why parents should always be there to tell them what to do and not to do. I know all parents do that. It was just unlucky of him because he did not listen. However, I believe that after the incident he will no longer go outside without slippers.

@Annierose No parent can watch their children every second of the day. I was in the bathroom so he thought he would be sneaky and go outside without shoes while I wasnt looking.

Ouch that hurts a lot. I also learned the hard way when I was a kid. Mom always told me never to climb trees but I did and then fell down. No broken bones but had some scratches on my legs.

@Toniganzon Yeah, we all had to learn the hard way I suppose that its a good idea to listen to our moms.

@Juliaacv Yeah we all learn tough lessons from when we didn't listen to our parents too. I hope so! Thank you.

@LovingMyBabies If its any consolation, I was always told that too, and I was in my late 20's before I learned the lesson to completely stop going barefoot. Our son was about 2 years old and he and I were walking hand in hand in the back yard when I unknowingly stepped on a bee, which stung me. I remember crying with pain, and our son still remembers it to this day.

Yes, we should all listen to the Mommy. Poor kid, I feel his pain. When I was in 5th grade I went over by the old pile of boards that Mom told us to stay clear of. An old rusty nail went clean through my sneaker, into my foot and out the other side. Yeah that hurt. I was out of commission for quite a while waiting for it to heal.

@LovingMyBabies just goes to prove that our mothers are only looking out for our best interest.
He will be fine. He will soon forget the needles and pain. Will probably be harder to get him to do it again, if there ever is a need to do so that is.

@Hatley Yup I bet he will from now on! And if he doesn't I will remind him about what happened today and that will change his mind real quick. Uh oh, you need to put some shoes on too!
