Many years ago, I read a book, "The Present." I was deeply inspired by the book and the writer's vision. I then thought why don't I find out a few simple ways to be in present for at least some moments during the 24 hours of the day, so that we could increase our awareness to be in the present. So, I come up with a few that I would like to discuss.
1. Whenever you drink a glass of water, feel the coldness/temperature with each sip you take in.
2. Whenever you are required to take stairs, count the number of stairs (if it is the one you have not counted before).
3. Whenever you are in a lift instead of thinking about something not very important count the seconds it takes to get you on your floor/the number of persons in the lift/the different colors you see people wearing but not staring at them.
4. While watching TV if you do not want to miss a program even for a second and you wait to watch boring ads, count the number of adds.
5. If you have a desk job, set an alarm to repeat after ever one hour and make it a habit that after each alarm you take 10-20 deep breaths.
Try to be aware of your surroundings instead of listening to your earphone music while on road or busy places.

Thanks for the comment. I am trying to follow the few mentioned tips to be in the present and increase the awareness of my surroundings, and I do confess that I fail for about 8 out of 10 times, but I am trying, and I will come up with a few more in my next edit on the same topic. TC
