Going in circles on the Hauppauge website

I have a Hauppauge USB Freeview television tuner for my laptop, which I have not used for over a year now. Yesterday I decided to reinstall the tuner, which would allow me to not only display but to record television programs.
Like all hardware, a TV tuner requires supportive software in order to make use of it. Installing the drivers enables the hardware, but I also need a software program to play the signal through. Since Windows Media Centre has now been withdrawn, the obvious choice would be Hauppauge Win TV, which was actually designed to accompany the tuner.
Oddly, in order to install the new version I need to have the original CD, which was discarded a few years ago. Hauppauge will supply a disk for 12 euros, which is not a bad price.
However, whenever I select the item on their European website and then try to open the checkout, I receive a warning message that the security certificate has a problem.
This is becoming very annoying.

Here you go again, speaking Greek/geek, whatever. I am clueless and plan on staying that way. There is far too much to learn in this life to spend time learning software that will become obsolete well before I master it.

If you buy an item software is bundled with it. When the software is replaced by a newer version it can simply be downloaded and used.
For some unknown reason Hauppauge insist on people to have the original disk, otherwise the software will not install.

@ElizabethWallace It is always advised to back the date up when upgrading an operating system in case of installation issues.

@Asylum Okay. This I don't mind, but what I do go nuts about is huge changes being forced upon us. Like when Microsoft decides to force a new system down our throats. Then they warn us to back up everything. This means to me that they expect the change to corrupt our information. Yikes.

@arthurchappell Exactly Arthur, it would enable me to record a daily television show during a one or two week holiday.
There are hard drive recorders available, but why pay £150 to £200 when I already have a TV tuner?

When I do manage to keep original installation disks, it seems they are out of date when I next need them. Most drivers can be downloaded from the internet, though, I think those sites are often littered with buttons that say "Download" and it's easy to choose the wrong one. My son has downloaded some nasty malware when trying to get a legit file from the net.

Interesting. That must be frustrating. I hate problems.

@celticeagle I bought the TV tuner and the software was given free. The drivers to operate the tuner will install, therefore the tuner works.
If I had Windows Media Centre I could use it, but since it was removed I need their program to play television. This is still free, but they insist on the original disk to prove that I originally bought a tuner from them.

I remember having that problem maybe 4 years ago with Hauppauge, I think I gave up in the end.

Have you looked to see if there is a customer service number you could call?
