Most people don't know about this math trick. Are you having a problem with math then try this. What's 4 X 18? This isn't really a complex problem but a lot of people have a problem with it and would have to write it done. Instead do this? What is 8 X 9? First double the first number and halve the second, this will give you the answer in half the time it would otherwise take.

Okay, I got the first two without a problem, they are the same number. I got so lost in your last example I had to do it three times to figure it out and finally realized I was supposed to multiply not add. I prefer the first two ways. Less complicated.

@Marcyaz It took some effort and a calculator for that last equation. I kept doing it wrong.

Dad always told us to count in 10s. If the number is 84+39 he'd simply add 80 to 30 then 9 to 4 and then combine. This would be 110 + 13 which then comes out to 123. I liked his method a lot and it always helped me when playing cards.

I know a few tricks, and can work that stuff out on paper, but most of the time just reach for the calculator!

I love maths and this idea is quite fascinating. I used to teach my own children the way I remembered the Quick Maths

I learned the times tables when I was a kid so I just automatically know the answer. That is a good trick though. A lot of people have trouble with math.

One of the tips I've used many times. There is a lot to be said for the multiplication tables we memorized in elementary school. Those numbers are all still there. Just waiting for me to seek them out.

@Marcyaz This is a good trick. Although knowing me I will probably forget haha. Math is not a strong subject for me. Never has been.
