Which sounds do you consider soothing for your ears? Among the sounds that I consider relaxing, there is the rain and the sound of moving water. It has rained for two days, the air is clean and fresh, but not cold, despite the lack of sun. I sat, under the porch, to drink a cup of coffee and I have taken this photo to share with you. It's the brook that runs along our property. I have enjoyed so much this relaxing moment to the sound of the water flowing though the rocks. Do you like the sound of the water?

I also like to listen to crickets and birds, most natural sounds are beautiful, even the thunder.

@LadyDuck , You are a naturalist, how I wished to listen to the rolling water, but we are so far from falls.

It is fine so long as you aren't tempted to pitch camp beside it... :) A recipe for a sleepless night if only a layer of nylon separates you from the raging torrent flowing outside.

A raging torrent can be pretty annoying, it happens, after a severe storm in summer, that our little brook becomes a raging torrent.

@PainsOnSlate The little stream in front of our home rarely rages too. In 17 years I remember only two nights that we were pretty scared.

Where we camp the river babbles, It rarely rages. The babbling put us right to sleep and the babbling in the morning sounds like voices, we think its the voices of those who are gone but come to visit in the night..

I too love the sound of water. Not the drip drip drip type as that can drive you crazy but a babbling brook or tiny stream cascading down the rocks. The sea or ocean tide is a beautiful sound too.

The drip drip sound from a faucet, especially during the night, can get you crazy. I remember a funny cartoon with Donald Duck now.

I can very well understand that you placed your pillow on your ears, the croaking of the frogs can be very loud and annoying.

@LadyDuck that's good to not have neighbors to close by either. Does the river ever overflow?

@infatuatedbby No the river does not overflow here, because it is on a steep ground. If this should happen it would bee several miles down hills.

I consider the sound of water silence, same as the birds chirping, or soft music. While I cannot stand "human noises" like loud voices, screams, lawn mower, motorbikes, cars and so on.

I do under the same situation as yours @LadyDuck . The only time I can't stand it is the sound of a fish tank. The 'gurgling' drives me nuts.

There is something about the sound of water. We all came from the comfort of the womb. Another sound I will listen to is my bird when she sings in my ear. Also today the guy with the noisy lawnmower was out making racket so I went for a walk. It was nice to hear that machine fade off in the distance to nothing. ha ha

@LadyDuck Well that loud machine was nice to hear disappear. There always seems to be the sound of tires hitting the pavement if I seek quiet. So soft sounds are welcome. Some music fills that need.
