Your duty is to freshly slice me my Ferrari Prosciutto at $31.99 lb!

I splurge on Ferrari Prosciutto once in a while because it's $31.99 a pound! I usually buy a quarter of a pound (about 4 slices), but regardless food by pound is purposely sold so you can get the amount you'd like and it's "fresher" hence the higher price tag. Now, tell me why the "lady" working in the deli section thinks it's okay to give me left over Ferrari Prosciutto she claims she "just" freshly cut that I did not see her do and try to sell it to me. - No - I was pretty furious. She told me, she just cut them and she has about 3-4 slices then counted it out, shows me. I told her straight out (again). I want my Ferrari Prosciutto freshly sliced. Which she ended up doing and I made sure I got the new one too! Like really, your job is to freshly slice stuff, and at the price tag - I do not want someones left overs or someone who didn't pick up their deli on the counter to be re-sold to me. If someone who isn't picky sure, but I am picky! Are you someone who minds like I do? Would you have wanted your deli to be freshly sliced in-front of you too?

I always ask for a new package of anything. I don't know how long the original has been sitting in the case. I also want to see it sliced to my liking right in front of me.

@DianneN I totally agree. I always get freshly slice deli/cheeses in front of me. I cannot believe she was trying to sell me "freshly sliced" meat that I did not see her do! And it's nice when the people will show if the thickness of the deli, cheese is good for me, etc!

I've never had our local deli ask me that as they have always sliced stuff as I ordered, but there are many times that they have gone over the amount I have asked for. In most cases it's just a tad, so I don't mind, but there is one guy who is always way off and I do mind having too much when I didn't request that. But wow, $31.99, I'd want fresh for sure - I don't blame you! That must be some really good stuff (I remember seeing a price tag for a deli item for $17 and I thought THAT was super high!!).

@infatuatedbby Ah, Whole Foods! I go there sometimes but now I remember why I never stop by their deli - because a lot of it is expensive! But still I am curious about that Ferrari stuff . . . think they'd let me try a sample? I wonder of the deli people make it sort of game for themselves to get the weight on the dot?

I am with you! If they go over a tad, I won't mind and take it. But if they go over by a lot, I do get a little annoyed especially since I do not need that much. But the people usually are nice and will it out if it's a must, but I usually take it anyway. As I know it's freshly sliced for me and that no one would want left overs.. - But - today was the first time I had the lady tell me she'll see me some left overs "aka" freshly sliced just now but I did not see her slice it. Ahh yes! The Ferrari is yummy! They don't have my bf's and I regular meat that we get, Grass Fed Roast Beef when it's rare its yummy!!

@Drosophila Yes, I am paying a little more than getting pre-packaged with more but I end up not eating it and it goes to a waste. So now I buy what I need and at that price it's about the same but fresher and better quality.

@infatuatedbby ya I should learn not to buy lots of food, I guess excess can lead to waste. But ya here, they tend to freshly slice right in front of you, so no messing around.

I use to work in a deli before and yeah, they have sliced cheeses in the cooler, they we usually try to sell first. However, since you wanted "fresh/new" she should have done as told, not argued that she just sliced some cheese!! I've even had customers want me to open a new package and give that to them, so I would!! Sounds like maybe the clerk was incompetent, you don't argue with a customer!!

At the price, you are right to want to see the lady slice the food "right under your nose"/

Yes I have never had any problems in the past. But this girl seemed new and regardless - if I'm paying a premium wouldn't you expect to freshness too. No matter if you just cut it or not. You're working for the company, not owning the company!

I agree with you! I stood in line to get my freshly sliced goods, not to just get someone else left overs! Otherwise I would get the prepackaged ones (which I do when I do not wait, but they do not have that kind of prosciutto!)

Yes! I did get it freshly sliced after telling her I wanted it fresh and if she can't then never mind. I would have escalated it further if she would not cut it for me. Even if she just cut it for someone ahead (which I did not see anyone ahead) ... then that's good for her, I don't want it.

Yes definitely I agree! And she kept trying to say I just cut it and counted out the pieces. You're already exposing the slices to more air and it's not freshly sliced lol.
