Early to bed, Early to Rise...

Thomas Jefferson first coined that expression many years ago. True to form, does it really make you healthy, wealthy and wise? I believe so. When I first started going to the gym, two weeks ago, I had my alarm clock to wake me up and to get used to waking up early. Then I didn't need it, when my two cats and the sun wakes me up. Now I wake up on my own, unless it's even earlier when my cats needs a water or food refill in their bowls. The same time of waking up between 7 to 7:15 AM never fails. Even if the days I don't go to the gym like on the weekends, same time. Except when I'm tired and need extra sleep, I try to sleep in. Or make up for it by taking power naps that last around a half-hour to 2 hours in mid-afternoon. Before I go back to my home practice and my gym classes for yoga and Pilates, I hope to squeeze it some yoga in the morning or maybe even in the afternoon with some meditation. I have to get back into the same rhythm once again. Since summer's around the corner, the fall and spring shows are ending this week and next week, unless something special's on at 10 PM or a Hallmark movie on Saturday nights, I'll be going back to be at 10 PM all summer long. I do feel healthy enough every day. I'm not sure about wealthy and wise though. How about you? Are you an early riser, feeling healthy, wealthy and wise?

I was under the impression that Benjamin Franklin coined that expression.

I rarely sleep later than 7. However, I don't know how that would make me healthy, wealthy or wise!

Sometimes I do the same and I end up rushing things since I will be late.

Work has me up earlier than my body naturally wants to wake. I would normally wake around 7 if I had that luxury.

It's really a good start, and i am sure you will be healther. Having a good living habit is always one of my pursuits, though it's little difficult for me to go to bed early.

I also believe that saying makes sense. I use to be an early riser but as of late I'm watching movies late and going to bed late. I have to work on waking up early again.

I really thought that was Benjamin Franklin that coined that. Oh well. I can't be right every time My inner alarm clock is a mess with my current sleep schedule, which is no schedule. I am not an early riser because I don't go to bed until an hour before the sun comes up. I'm working on getting healthy. I have my moments of wisdom, but I'm far from wealthy.

By the time I'm heading to bed, most people are getting up for the day. I wonder what President Jefferson would think of me? lol

Yes, healthy in a way that it is the proper time to sleep and my body rejuvenate the blood cells needed. In that manner, I can be wealthy since I can perform my a job and be productive. Wise, indeed, since I'm doing the right thing. I get to sleep at around 8 in the evening and wake up at around 4 am do to some exercise. Like you, I take some power naps as well during break time. It's good to know that you do go to gym and do yoga. I guess your really a health conscious.

@KristenH Wow water aerobics, That is really good since you are exercising your cardio vascular and it makes you breath better. In addition, it is fun to be at the pool and swim.

So totally true. I wake up early and I always feel more efficient at that time. Any work gets done so easily in those early hours. I generally get to sleep around 10 and get up anywhere between 4-4:30. Waking up before sunrise feels great.
