In honor to fourwalls naming X as a top opening act.
Legendary Los Angeles based X is one of the greatest and most influential punk groups of all time. Praised by critics. Revered by those who followed. Devoted following enduring for decades. X was the real deal. Not a punk band doing novelty songs or flailing at instruments for the mosh pit. X was raw and edgy but serious with thought provoking songwriting of John Doe.
Formed in 1977, the original lineup was comprised of lead singer bassist Doe, his then girlfriend lead singer Exene Cervenka, guitarist Billy Zoom and drummer D.J. Bonebreaker. X was active until the early 90s and have reunited several times since.
The band deserves recognition by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Why aren't they in despite acclaim and influence? X never got anywhere near a charted hit or broke into the mainstream. Their fame was confined to hometown and national punk scene. The city of Los Angeles honored X with a proclamation citing artistic contributions to the city.
