Good morning my friends! I have been up since 6am, thanks to my cute little man needing a bottle and diaper change. But it's okay-only because he's so sweet and cute. Lol.
So, I wasn't online much yesterday because we had some visitors. It went well, I am glad we were able to feed their kids especially because they don't have enough food at their house. =( We told them if they need food to let us know. They have 5 kids, we don't want them going hungry-ever. The oldest girl hides chips under her pillow just to have something to eat for another day. It hurts me thinking about it.
Those children were shocked when they saw how full our cabinets were with food. The look on their faces cannot be described with words. It was like a homeless person being invited into a mansion-they just stood there in disbelief.
When they left my children's eyes were wide open about how lucky they really are in life. It opened my eyes too. We haven't been hungry in a while and I am so grateful to God for that.
The father works at a retail store but he only makes $300 per week. With 7 people in the home that is just not enough-not even close. They all need clothes and shoes so once I get their sizes I am going to ask people on local FB groups if they can help with that...
Reminds us we have a lot to be thankful for...even when we don't realize it.

@Lucky15 When she told us that she hides food so she won't be hungry I almost broke down into tears. It hurt me so bad...

You are a sweetheart to help these people out. I hope that others will open their hearts as well and give to help them out as well.

Right I remember how much my boys ate as they became older. I had forgotten I until now.

@Marcyaz Yeah they get food stamps but it's not enough for 7 people and he only makes $300 a week! They get $400 a month, but with older children it just doesn't go very far. We actually bought them some food to get them through for a little bit.

@LovingMyBabies
That $300 a week sounds like just enough for rent, and not much else.
Yikes.
One of my dreams has been to be able to afford a duplex that I can "rent" out to struggling families for low, low costs. Maybe even just have them pay utilities.
I know, for us, it would have helped our financial situation if we didn't have to pay rent for 6-12 months and, instead, use that money to get out of debt, etc.

@marlina It was so sad hearing what they go through. We have been there before so we try to help as much as we can. =(
Yeah we should definitely be thankful for everything we have, because compared to this family we all have a ton!

@LadyDuck Yeah, most people don't think about others starving when they waste food. =( It is really sad.

@LadyDuck Here there are so many people going hungry. A lot of them are at Salvation Army and such, but they only give so much there. So when we see people there we try to help them with meats and such.

It is hard sometimes to realize how other people are without food or clothing. I think we are poor but have it better than so many.

@celticeagle Yeah that is very true. We realize how much we do have when we see others without the very basics.

It is heart breaking indeed. Thanks for doing such act of kindness with them. We are really lucky we have all our needs and do not need to go to street to ask for alms so we can put something in our empty stomach. While the rich leaders are over spending with luxurious things, others have barely to eat. I hope someone can help them in a long term that they no longer have to depend on other people for food. May God bless you and your family. May God bless them too.

@LovingMyBabies It really gives a good feeling when we are able to help. It is even more special if we help without expecting anything in return. I hope they can find a way out of that miserable life. Are the kids studying? Education is very important. It is one way to get out of poverty.

@annierose Yes it is. We like being able to help others when we can because we have been there and we have were helped when we needed it. Thank you. We did put some food in their house, enough for a couple weeks to get them by. I was so grateful we were able to help.

That is very kind of you and I'm sure that will make the kids happy too. You should see if anyone has extra food that they do not need in there house. I fill boxes of extra food that I get from my daughter's school because we just can't eat it all and it takes up a lot of room in our kitchen I give to other families that need it.

@ShyBear88 We were once in that situation, we remember very well how it feels to be truly hungry. It's an awful feeling. So now when we can help we do.
That's good that you help out as well, I wish everyone would.

@LovingMyBabies we have been dirt poor before so it's not fun and when you have little ones feed you do your best to make sure they have something to eat.

You are doing a good job by trying to get help for them. I am very glad about that. We can all say that we are sorry. How horrible that they are suffering. But very rarely people put themself out to help. You are taking action and not just feeling sorry. Thank you for being you!

This makes me want to smack my kids when they whine about what I've made for dinner. I hate how wasteful and picky my own children can be.
Grrrr.
On a side note, do your local public schools have a free summer lunch program? I know there are some places that give free lunches and, if you get there early enough, free breakfasts, during summer. That could help the food budget a bit. At least for a season.

@Genipher My kids were that way too until they met this family. This opened all of our eyes so much.
I am not sure since my kids are Home Schooled but it's something I can tell them about-I am sure that would help them a lot.
