Will you move because your child goes to school?

My son will be a grade 7 student in September this year. So lately we have been busy with applying for a good high school. I learned that a student from his school is recruited by a nice high school already. Her mom said that they would rent a house nearby and move there. Is it necessary? It will spend half an hour walking there. And the bus is convenient. Moving is a big issue and is it worth to move there because it is just closer to the school? I will not move in order that my son will spend less time going to school. Sometimes children need to "suffer" a little so that they will be strong in mind.

I prefer staying closer to school. I don't like children spending too much time in travelling to school.

@youless Yes. I think the price of the house is a big problem in China.

I hope so. But when we see the crazy house price, I have to sigh.

i did not live in a dorm the whole time. i lived with my sister in high school and in college, my sister rented an apartment for me alone so i could start doing things on my own.

Here not all the high school provides the dorms for students.

We always bring our son to school and pick him up too. He never took a public commute and there's no school bus here at all. We never plan on moving our house so that we could be closer to school.

When the children grow up, we shall give them more freedom.

Some parents just want to make the unnecessary sacrifice.

If the school is further away then sure but half an hour walking is not a reasonable excuse for moving houses. If there is any disability involved then too it can be considered but if you are perfectly healthy then what is the problem? It can be a good exercise.

You are right. If going there by bus, it spends no more than 15 minutes. There is nothing wrong with it. As you know, moving a house namely a whole family has to settle down there. And will it be convenient for parents to go to work?

@youless I don't think they are considering many things that will change if they move.

I would not have moved for my children to be close to school.
