Scentimental Rose

I have never grown roses but they are so very pretty. When I went to the garden center a few weeks ago I saw this beautiful rose. Apparently it has a spicy scent to it. Sadly I couldn't really smell it as there were so many scents in the air I could hardly smell it. I was disappointed.
What I also found fascinating was that each petal was described like a snowflake. Each petal was different from the others. Some have more of a burgundy splash and others with more cream color than burgundy.
This is a cross between a Playboy Rose and a Peppermint Twist Rose. The hybrid of these two roses first bloomed in 1997. Beautiful.

@maryanno I don't either but my hubby is pretty good at growing. I would have loved to get a good smell of it.

Wow this is a beautiful flower. I never knew there were such roses as a PlayBoy Rose + Peppermint Twist Rose. I love it, bummer there was no scent to it since there were a lot in the air so it's hard to tell. And for me.. If I smell a lot of smells, I can't smell the correct smell anymore lol.

@infatuatedbby Yup same sort of thing. It's hard to pick perfumes because of that.

I know I had never seen one like this either, but even more interesting for me was the spicy scent. Wish I could have smelled it better. So many flowers I couldn't get a good smell of it.

@trivia79 Yes true black as well true blue are very unusual and rare colors for flowers.

I don't think there is a true black flower of any kind, many times what they call black is really a very deep purple.

I wish I could have gotten a better smell of it, but so many roses around all the smells seemed to mix together.

yes ma'am, 'tis a beaut. i fear all my scented roses perished with the years'f drought. savin' the trees became top priority.

I don't blame you that's what I would try to save as well. Thankfully we don't usually have a drought problem.

I did so want to smell it, they have all the roses in one area and the smells of all of them was overwhelming. I got a slight scent from it but with all the other roses I didn't get the smell I wanted. I don't think I have ever smelled a spicy scent on a flower.

We are lucky not to have the deer here in town. There is so much woods and farms surrounding my town i don't thing they need to come into town. I have never seen them here in town.
