Travelling by plane is still up in the air

My brother visited last week before flying west to British Columbia, Canada to visit another- younger brother who lives near Vancouver. He was a little nervous as he hadn't flown for awhile. I used to love plane travel a lot more but now am also feeling a little nervous about it. I would still go but, like him, might feel a little wary.
It's funny how as we get older we get more timid. It should be the other way around but unfortunately isn't. However, I do feel that since 911 and other scary events we are all a little more nervous about travel.
How do you feel about plane travel? Do you enjoy it or would you rather drive or take a train?

@JudyEv Maybe we should come in the cooler weather then, so we get that stick-to-your-ribs effect and it will keep us warmer?

Travelling on a plane has been always my dream. When I see a plane on the sky, all I think of is that it gives me freedom like those of the birds that can fly wherever and whenever they want.
Actually, when I first took an airplane to travel to another island in my country, the idea of plane crash never entered my mind. But when I read about other's experiences about their first airplane experiences, that is the moment the thought of plane crash entered my mind. I felt a bit worried but I think it will not hamper me of wanting to travel more in the future. To be honest, road accidents are more of a frequent scene here mu country than plane crash.

@MarymargII True. I always would like to be seated beside the window. I love seeing the sea of clouds. It looks like they are dancing.

I flew so much in the first half of my life. I loved it. I haven't been on a plane since 1986.

I hate plan travel but it has nothing to do with being timid it is the TSA and the seats and leg room getting smaller, it is no longer any fun it is just long day and an uncomfortable flight. and don't get me started on the lost luggage!! lol

My brother just took a short flight not too long ago to Myrtle Beach and they lost his and his wife's luggage! And the two of them hadn't travelled in years! Crazy!

The train is great- gets you there and you can see the countryside and where you're going at the same time.

The only reasonable way for us to visit two of our daughters and three of our grandkids is to fly from California to the East Coast, so I accept that it is something I have to do. However, security has bogged things down so much, I consider it a pain in the rear ... to be honest. Everything about flying these days is inconvenient ... luggage handling, tiny seats, no meals, and long lines.

So true Deborah- I hate all that about it too- It used to be considered such a wonderful way to travel!

@MarymargII I know they say you are safer in the air than in a car.
