My mind is in overdrive mode!

Athens Olympic Arena and André

Without me having to remind anyone, you all know that it's the dawning of a new Monday! The rain in our area has come to a halt, for which I am pleased because there is a pile of washing that needs hanging. Its my hubby's birthday tomorrow and the master of the house has reached the young age of 57. I love both those numbers in that age, so I might apply them to some lotto ticket in his honour. Trying to think of what to do for him is quite mind-searching - he has everything. I thought of flying us down to a country town along the coast to spend the night and have a special dinner, but that would be without our children. That might be a little selfish. Do you ever think of having your birthday celebration without your children and other loved ones? Anyway I am sure that by the end of today I will have thought of something special for hubby . . . . . my mind is in overdrive! photo is of André at the Athens Olympic Arena 2014 - its seems like yesterday. “Wrinkles should merely indicate where the smiles have been.” ~ Mark Twain

It is a very long time since I celebrated a birthday. Somehow they lose significance as we get older.

I hope you can come up with a birthday gift that will melt the heart of your hubby. He is such a very lucky man to have a very sweet and caring woman by his side.

@Inlemay You are welcome..I agree with you. I also believe good memories worth more than material things we can give to our loved ones.

you are too kind - in our mature age I find gifts kind of silly - I look to sharing special moments rather than gifts - but never know what he would enjoy. thank you for your lovely response

Love your quote. Both my husband's and my birthdays are in December when our daughter is abroad, but we always spend them with our son unless we are abroad ourselves. We've had so many birthdays that they aren't really special anymore

I believe they are special in the way we celebrate them - I would like to be at the Sea for my next one in November, not sure how I am going to organise that. When I am 60 in 4 years time I would like to be somewhere in Ireland or Scotland

Our kids are miles away so all celebrations happen without them. Hope you have a great day.

Do you ever miss celebrations with them? I am taking some time to get used to not celebrating everything with the grown children . . . it takes some getting used to

@Inlemay While my Mum was alive they were very good at coming home most years for her birthday which was in February. But they're a long way away, don't have a lot of money and one finds travelling very stressful. I guess we've got used to not having them here for celebrations but we do miss them.

@Inlemay honestly, they prob wouldnt have done a thing at work. I have people I can have pleasant convos with, but no one I would consider a friend.

Happy birthday to your husband. I hope you think of something interesting and fun to do. I don't see anything wrong with just the two of you celebrating, sounds like a nice thing to do.

My husband always wants to go without the kids, but it is such a hassle to find babysitters for them and all the pets if we want to go away for more than a day.

We have it totally different - my hubby insisted that we have the kids and grandchildren over and has even planned a special meal for the little ones - so it will be a family affair it seems
