Did you fall in love with love as a kid?

It's 1949, I'm 13 years old, and I had just walked out of the RKO Pelham movie theatre in the Bronx--the movie, (one of a double bill---wonder if you 'kids' remember when movies showed 2 pictures, a cartoon, a newsreel, coming attractions, etc?) and I was in love with love!
It was a pretty 'racy' movie for its time--Susan Hayward has a child out of wedlock with Dana Andrews who is about to be shipped overseas--oh the melodrama, the romance and the music!
I bought the sheet music and spent days learning the lyrics which to this day I remember and get transported back to that day whenever I think of them. Ah, youth--and then in today's paper I read "Nothing annoys a man as to hear a woman promising to love him 'forever' when he merely wanted her to love him for a few weeks." Helen Rowland
And I am still a romantic 67 years later!
The full movie is available on Youtube

Yes, this is a grand old movie. They don't make them like that anymore. Susan Hayward was a great actress. The song was by Victor Young who is movie music legend and lyrics by Ned Washington who also wrote When You Wish Upon a Star. First class all the way!!!

Under the studio systems stars didn't get paid millions of dollars so 'spectacular' movies didn't have to be made--small, intimate love stories and musicals were made for little and made big profits!! I remember so many good 'old' movies and stars!

I have watched a lot of old movies but I don't think I have seen this one. I need to look it up.

I am sure I saw it, but can't remember it at all. Susan Hayward was a favorite. I recall "I'll cry tomorrow."

A few of my favorites of her were "Back Street", "With A Song In My Heart", "I Want to Live", "Smash Up" and yes "I'll Cry Tomorrow"--and for pure camp "Valley of the Dolls"!

I certainly remember the double feature and cartoon and previews.... but no newsreel in my day. I loved the movie magazines and pinned up the stars on my bulletin board!

I was in love with: Rita Hayworth, Lana Turner, Ava Gardner, Susan Hayward--funny but being gay I was never interested in their co-stars!!!
