The Horse is in jail again

This has got to stop. You know I've served time for an illegal u-turn and illegal planting. Now it's cruelty to plants. Someone reported me to the ASPCP, the cops came out, saw my sunflower, and hauled me off once again.
I told them I'd been busy with music, and that I had forgotten to water on Sunday, and all they could say was, "Everyone has an excuse." The lady cop even said, "No con ever done wrong."
When I went before the Judge this morning, I was contrite, and he let me go under the condition that I water all of my balcony plants as soon as I get home. I took this picture just before I watered everything this morning.
If the object of my cruelty survives, I'll take another picture this afternoon. Am I going to be scorned on MyLot now? My intentions were not bad. I just got a little too busy for my own good.

I think that, apart from the lapse in watering, you should also be incarcerated for keeping a plant in too confined a space. That plant needs room to spread its roots. You appear to have confined it to a half pint plastic tumbler when it should be in at least a 6" pot by now! You may as well ask a musician to play in a space barely 2' x 2' and to keep the guitar neck out of other people's faces!

Ya know, I have a BIG garden, well, big for me anyway. And I have water faithfully, except when it has rained, like the last few days (cats and dogs on Saturday!) However, I have one darn tomato that just starts drooping when everything else is happy. I don't know why "Droopy" is droopy, but he'll perk back up if you dump water on him. So, I don't think you are necessarily bad, after all, Mr. Sunflower may just be like my Droopy and take offense if it THINKS you are neglecting it.

How to care for your sunflowers including watering, stabilising mulching, pruning and protection from insects, animals, disease and the weather.

Crossing my fingers that the poor thing lives . . . I think it can, I think it can. My son's little sunflower looked exactly like that the other day - I had forgotten to water it too! But after watering it (not too much), the leaves came back to life - thank goodness. The younger ones at the lower part of the stem kinda dried up and didn't make it, so I just had to pluck 'em off - otherwise all is well again.

@TheHorse I forgot to say I put it in a shaded area too so it had a chance to absorb the water better. I don't know if that's what we're supposed to do, but that was my mentality about the situation. Hope you can stay outta jail!

Looks like a joke, and I hope it is one, or I would have been convicted several times. The last plant I forgot was a papyrus... and without water they do not live long.
If you watered it under the sun, your sunflower has not a lot of chances to survive. Poor plant.

@TheHorse No, pony, in the early morning is fine to water plants, provided they are in the shade when you water them. They need a chance for the water to soak into the dirt so their roots can get it before the sun evaporates it. Watering the plant and leaving it in the sun means only a small amount of water will actually reach the roots before it is evaporated.
Try not to water your plants late at night. Doing that could give mold a chance to start among the plant's roots, which can damage the plant even more.

@Castlerock34 Life's not fair. But of course this post is just my imagination running wild. I did neglect to water my sunflowers yesterday, though.

Yeah it looks like you could use a bigger pot with more soil for that thing. If you put a bit of cardboard on the bottom and some wood chips on top, it could stand to go a few days without water.
You could also set the pot in a bowl of water.
How can it ever get a flower on it when it's all dried up?

@TheHorse Oh, nice! Those don't get very big but if you put it in more dirt and pinch off the two bottom leaves, it they will get a little bigger.

You FORGOT? You were too busy? Plants are our friends! How could you be so cruel?
Have the plants around you EVER forgotten to supply you with oxygen to breathe? Have they ever forgotten to give you of themselves so you could eat?
I am sorry, pony... I mean, Mr. pony! I don't know if I can forgive you if that sunflower doesn't live! You should be so ashamed! SMH!

@TheHorse Yes, pony, I was positive it would survive your slight faux pas! We grew sunflowers when I was a kid on the farm. I've got lots of experience with them.
I just told Reine that you probably got busy this afternoon and either forgot to snap a picture or forgot to post the photo showing how well it was doing now!

Nah! The squirrels are the only ones allowed to depend on @TheHorse !
He can usually be depended on to grow good tasting veggies and then leave a few bottles of salad dressing sitting around in their reach! LOL!
