The Story of A Tick: My soul feels heavy picking up the phone now. Everything reminds me of her, every sound leaves me longing for her voice. There were moments when this phone would light up every hour proudly displaying the most beautiful girl I have known but now all it shows is a screen as empty as my heart. Everything has faded but my hope lingers like the smoke of a cigarette in a still room. I shoot another dose of optimism in my blood and lift my spirits high. My fingers continue to resist me and so does my brain. I gather all my conscience to write once again. My mind finally makes up some words and my fingers hesitantly obey. Now arrives the real test of courage challenging my emotions. I win again and hit the button as my heart slowed down in apprehension and anticipation. I see the first tick in front of those letters of hope. The only thing that never strands me is my hope. Soon the second tick followed. My heart too decided to hurry his way through my my pale body. As if it wants to consume all the energy as swiftly as it could. At least I know now that it's delivered. I fix my eyes to the tick as I brooded deep into my dichotomy. And wait for it to turn blue.
