When we were still kids, my parents had a small piggery and I sometimes help my mother prepare foods for them. I also assist my mother in cleaning the newborn pigs. I only knew now that pigs belong to the top 6 smartest animal. They are classified as highly intelligent animals. Both domestic and wild species are known for their ability to adapt to a variety of different ecological conditions. They seem to be at least as trainable as cats and dogs Now I know why pigs could also be seen in carnival shows. Do you like pigs as your pet animal?

My family had a pet potbelly pig when we were growing up. She would squeal when she needed to go outside and she loved cuddling. We had to get rid of her when she became food aggressive.

@magallon The food aggression was probably our fault. As kids, we often teased her with food. Trying to train her to jump to get a morsel, etc. I think if we had trained her right, she would have been just fine. Oh, and female potbelly pigs can be more "touchy" than the males. The males, also, are cleaner than the females. (Go figure!)

When I saw the movie BABE and when I read the book Charlotte's Web, it made me want to have a pet pig. But no, I still prefer my doggies.

@Genipher .. I know babe and Wilbur too. They're both lovable and smart pigs but I love Wilbur more.

I agree. Dogs I think are better pets than pigs.

Babe and Wilbur were both pigs that would grow to 3-500 pounds. Not a very good house pet. But a potbelly pig? They get to be about the size of a small dog, and they can actually be good companions. Now if I found a talking pig like Babe or Wilbur, I'd so totally keep them as pets!

I don't know if there are pigs that do not grow big and i think pigs could also get along with dogs and cats.

Depends. If you get one of those giant meat pigs, yeah, they're a bit dirty and gross. Mostly, though, because pigs can't sweat so the only way they can cool off is by wallowing in mud or water... Our potbelly pig was VERY clean. She was a house-pig and, at the most, her snout would get a little dirty from her adventures in the backyard.

Yea when they're all small and cute lol. But I've always wanted to have an exotic animal for a pet like tiger cub or turtles or something out of the original like cats and dogs.

I think Tigers are little bit fearful as pets but turtles are cute.

@eddieing314 A tiger might be a useful weapon when the zombie apocalypse hits...

@magallon they're ok until they get big. Then that's when that ruthless behavior take over.
