If You Were On A Diet & Were Given A Chocolate Cake Gift What Would You Do?

I am on a strict diet since yesterday due to having way too many takeaway meals over the weekend. However yesterday my work mate gave me a chocolate cake gift for saying thank you for helping her with training. It was so sweet of her and very thoughtful, and plus I do love chocolate cake. But the issue is I am on a diet now! I am staring at the cake right now debating whether or not to give in to my desires! I am sure I will in the end. What would you do?

I am not sure it would taste nice after freezing it and defrosting it. The sponge would go really dry?

@gudheart it will still tastes good. When you defrost it, you have to defrost it in the room temperature for an hour or 2 before eating it. I have done that many times and it was good.

To hell with the diet. I should appreciate the gift that was given and eat it. I don't want to break the heart of the giver.

I would eat the cake, but stretch it out over several days. Wouldn't make much difference, but I wouldn't get a massive guilt trip on day 1!

If you've just started your diet then have a slice of it and then make up your mind to not get tempted again for whatever period of time you're dieting. Best of luck! :D

@gudheart Of course they will . But anyway , it can last in the refrigerator for days so you can have a slice each day , provided you will also exercise after at least 2 hours after that .

I would have a piece and share the rest with others. Or Save it for later. Or you can decline the cake politely, too.

I thought freezing it would make it dry when defrosting.

@gudheart I'm not sure. I think it depends on the cake. We did that to our wedding cake and it defrosted just fine.

I would rather give it away. If the goal is really important I will make sure nothing gets in the way of achieving it.

I will eat it. It is an one-off gift. She will not give you another cake the next week. Just have it, and then go for a long walk!
