bits and pieces

Feet. Heads. Dumped in parks and skips. It transpires that a lone left foot, discovered by a pet dog in a park back in February, was nothing more sinister than a medical tool. Hence the lack of DNA. I have a sneaky suspicion that the severed head, discovered yesterday at a quarry in my neck of the woods, won't simply be a lost item from a training hospital. I'm intrigued now. I like mysteries, even if most of them have a rather mundane and uninteresting outcome. It's obviously sad too. Somebody somewhere is walking around with no head. Somebody somewhere is likely to stumble across a torso, maybe complete with limbs, maybe not. It rather reminds me of the case of the headless body from Norfolk in the 1970s. Not that I remember it, of course, what with being nothing but a speck of dust or matter, but it's something that has intrigued me since I first read about it. The headless body of an adult woman was discovered dressed only in a pink nightie. I don't think they've ever discovered who she was. Human nature can be terribly wicked, life taken without a thought. And then we all die anyway.

Feet keep being found on the coast of BC and Washington. Here is an article about that.

Oh gosh. That was really interesting. I wonder why no other body bits ever seem to surface.

@Poppylicious One guess is that as bodies decompose the foot breaks away. Then since these feet were often in shoes still, the shoe kept the foot from breaking down. I don't know if anyone really knows.

The headless woman was forty years ago. They found a head. The foot was real but didn't come from a grizzly crime; it turned out to be a training aid.
