Would you allow your young children to do this?

I live in a townhouse section of my neighborhood and we have woods behind us and behind the townhouses across the street. Would you allow your children to run around at night when it is dark in the woods or in the middle of the road unsupervised? I don't think it is amart because there are wild animals in the woods plus there could be some sick, twisted person hanging out in the woods. Most of these children are less than 10yrs old. How do you feel about this? Our area is not lit very well either.

I agree with you. It's not safe at all for kids to out there no matter how old they are. But young ones really shouldn't be out there. There are way to many crazy people in this world to take a chance.

I definitely agree with you there and if I had children I would not allow them to be running around at night in a wooded and unsafe area. There are too many sick people out there. I am amazed how these parents allow their children to do that. It would be sad if something happened to any of the kids.

I know. I see stuff like that where I live. We lived in a busy city and there would be really little kids out at the park (that's behind everything) just playing. There would be no adults standing by anywhere. I don't see how you can watch so many abductions on TV and really think to yourself "oh that would never happen to my child" cause it could.

Nooooo way. And the thing is, even if there was no possibility that some crazy person was in the woods and could abduct a child, there's always the possibility of a kid falling, tripping or running into something because they can't see IN THE DARK. Some parents just don't THINK.

Very, very true. It is so dark in the woods and you never know what kind of things you could trip on or fall on.

No, I most certainly would not. All too often we hear of dreadful things happening to children or of kidnapping etcetera, and everyone is concerned and really pities the parents. We cannot stop this kind of thing happening, but at least we can take sensible precautions and reduce the risk to a minimum. I know that it can be difficult to control the actions of children and they cannot be watched 24 hours a day. Nevertheless, it is essential that we constantly try and be vigilant in matters of this level of import.

I am glad that you agree and there are too many dreadful things happening now a days to children. I am always receiving missing children notices in the mail and wonder if this is because parents are not looking after their children better. We do need to take more precautions.

I think that as parents, we should always exercise more care, not less.

Parents can never be too careful. The kids should not be out in the woods at night. They need to be supervised while outside no matter what time of day.

I agree with you very much. Not late at night - not in the dark. Even if a wild animal didn't get them, they could still trip and fall and hurt themselves terribly. I think that kind of romping around should be reserved for the daytime. If they want to play in the driveway or front yard after dark, with the garage door open shedding some light on them - cool. Or the backyard...but not the woods. :O/

Falling and getting hurt is another reason for not allowing children out in the woods or outside at night. Children really shouldn't be outside without supervision.

That is a pretty awful situation in my opinion. The sad thing is that when one of these kids turns up missing or worse, their parents will be furious that it happened, and will most likely not assume any of the responsibility for it happening. Maybe there is someone you could alert about this situation and something could be done.

I agree with you and that worries me. I would hate to see something to happen to any of the kids. We have some irresponsible parents in my neighborhood. Thanks for the advice.

Nope! I would never allow that. I don't even think I would want them playing around there in the daytime either.

No I would never let my children do that.People are so devious thease days and besides i would not let them go into the woods anyway because of wild animals and sick people.Their parents must don't care about them to let that happen. My kids have a curfew to be in the house before 8:30pm.

It is very dangerous I think to let their kids roam around freely at a night as well as the environment here with the woods and very little lighting. You can't trust people these days.

There is no reason for children to be out in the woods in the dark. There are wild animals in the woods most will stay away from people but getting sprayed by a skunk is not a pleasant experience. I would be more concerned about strange people looking for an opportunity. It is too bad that the children's parents don't think. It would be awful that it would take something happening to their children to open their eyes. I know that I was brought up to go inside when the sun goes down and I teach my son the same.

Taht is great that you teach your son to go inside after the sun goes down. Very wise. I would not allow my children to g out in the dark, whether there was woods or not. It is just not safe.

No, I would never allow young children to run around in the woods during the day or night! There's too many dangers. I wouldn't want my teens doing this either! I raised my children in the rural countryside, and they were kept close to home at all times (when I could help it!).

No matter where your kids are i dont think it is smart to leave them out unsupervised at all, Especially in the woods not only wild animals but what if they were injured or ran to far and got lost and some sicko could harm there child or even take there child and they would never see them again! I dont even let my son pay in our yard unsupervised party because he is only 4 years old!
