This morning was a lovely warm Autumn day so Deisel Dog and I set off for a five kilometre walk. Also the Cleaner came to clean so I needed someplace to go. At the end of our walk I took Diesel Dog to the Park where there is a Park and a variety of Ducks. When he had finished sniffing every smell he can find, talked to all the other dogs on the way he allowed me to walk around the Lake in the middle of the Park. Today I found a new Duck, it had a red bill and black and was covered with black and purple feathers. Most of the other ducks are black, there are a couple who are black and white with red beaks, they look a bit like roosters. So my duck really stood out from the crowd. It was a lovely walk and a joy to explore our environs, plus it wore Diesel Dog out which is always a bonus I think my Duck was a Purple Swamphen, here is the link
The Adventures of a Western Australian Zoologist And the bush has friends to meet him, and their kindly voices greet him, In the murmur of the breezes and the river on its bars, And he sees the vision splendid of the sunlit plains extended, And at night th

I've never seen a duck like that - are you sure it's not a coot?

@jaboUK I'm not quite sure what it is exactly. I will phone the local council and ask if they know. The Council is responsible for Parks and Larks and such.

Hi Val. nice to catch up with you too. I was in Melbourne a few weeks ago so I guess I can forego another trip, especially as I'm off on a Cruise to Singapore in July. Maybe we can catch up next year.

I looked at the Thailand photos, awesome but missed the duck. I did look it up and your photo is great. The duck is certainly different from any I have seen. Your visit to the part sounds delightful.
