Do You Enjoy Workmen in Your House?

I always love the finished product, but never people tramping through the house, banging, hammering, knocking, and creating a mess.
Today, my peace will be shattered all day long while we have a gas fireplace inserted in our fireplace. One man arrived early to move furniture and cover our carpet and floors. Soon, the electrician, chimney sweep, propane gas installer, and the men who shall install the fireplace will arrive.
I can't wait for them to leave!!!!

This is just the beginning! We are having the floors in this same room sanded, restained, and varnished June 1st. The same day for our deck outside. Then on to redo the entire family room. It's always something with a house. Never ends.

I used to have a great handyman who was always a delight to have working in my house. It was like having a friend over. We chatted while he worked. But he moved to Arkansas, so in answer to your question, I do not enjoy having workmen in the house now, but I did before.

@DianneN And cleanliness too. I get it. Peace and quiet, cleanliness and simple logical routines. Loverly.

I hate having workman in my home. I am always happy when the job is completed and I can get back to normal. LOL

Sounds like a lot of mess and noise but I'm assuming the new gas fireplace will be wonderful once it's finished.

@DianneN You're so lucky to be able to leave it for the cleaning lady

I feel the same way! I hate having workmen here, especially if what they are doing takes all day, or longer!

@DianneN - You are so right! My mother used to say that a house is never finished. Once you have painted and repaired everything, it is time to start over again! LOL

@DeborahDiane My mother said the same. Our mothers were right as it turns out! Now I have two homes to work on. My sister-in-law has three!

No I hate it but it's a necessary evil I suppose. When we had our house rewired it took them 8 days. I was so glad when it was done.

Unfortunately, it's a necessary evil to get the finished product you want! Just think of how nice the fireplace will look when it's all said and done, and how many years of wonderful nights by the fire you will enjoy as a result!
