Planting My Flowers

Orange Gazania

We have had so much rain lately, I have not had the chance to plant the flowers I got for Mother's Day. Every year, my hubby and kids know exactly what I want for Mother's Day, a gift certificate to our local garden center. According to the weatherman, today should be clear, warm and dry! It should get into the upper 70s today, so if the ground isn't too wet, I am planning on spending most of the day planting my flowers. The picture is of an orange gazania flower. I think these are going to look so bright and cheerful in my front flower bed! Have you ever grown gazania flowers?

I haven't planted any flowers yet either but I'm hoping to get around to it soon. Hope the weather stays dry enough for you to get your flowers planted today

I usually have most of my flowers planted by now, but it has been so wet around here I haven't been able to plant much. I did get some planted yesterday, but not all. My allergies had me feeling under the weather yesterday. I hope to get finished today!

@marlina I don't know that I can ever buy "enough" flowers. It seems that I am always picking up a new one when we go somewhere!

They really are pretty flowers and I am hoping they will survive our hot summers and come back again next year!

I have grown gazanias, but they close up in dull weather. I've been gardening all day too.

@jaboUK I noticed that they close up during cloudy weather and we have had plenty of that lately!

we finally got some rain here 'n the earth was breathin' a huge sigh'f relief fer such a blessin'. i've grown those'n prior years, but didn't get none friday when i was sent'n a mission - the hubs adores 'em, but they'd only large pots fer $6.98 'n i refuse to pay that much fer 'em since they're'n annual'n these parts, lol. i'll be pottin' schtuff 'p later today ('tis nearly 1:30am...) 'n clearin' out a flower bed that perished'n the drought to add anew - shasta daisies 'n more lavender. a gal jest can't 've too many, correct? ;) beautiful flowers ~ happy plantin'!

@sgbrown the whole front'f the house used to be covered with shasta daisies fer years. then the hubs planted vinca minor'n those beds 'n they got choked out :( i love to contrast textures 'f greens 'long with vibrant pops'f colors. lavenders'll live fer years, i'm prone to e'en pottin' some'p 'n puttin' 'em 'n the porch steps, 'long with other herbs. that way the pup's waggin' tail releases their beautiful aromas. yer welcome!

I had Shasta daisies come back for several years, then they just didn't! I am planting more of them today, if it doesn't rain. I have never tried lavender. It may do well here since it gets pretty hot in the summer time. Thanks for the idea!

@mom210 I love hydrangeas! I have planted them 2 different times here and they didn't come back either time! So sad, I would love to have a big bush full of those beautiful flowers!

I'm not really familiar with the name of the flowers but I have seen that one in my mother's garden.

We do grow gazinia flowers, we got all our flowers in last week and the veggies a few days ago. I was getting worried but thankfully all is well.

I never have, they look something between a tiger lily and a zennia. I've grown both of those among others. I used to grow moon flowers which only bloom after dark.
