Driving Through the Pit of Doom!

I have to go to Walmart today to pick up a few cleaning essentials. Also need a wrist splint for my left wrist that has been acting up. Normally I am not reluctant to go to Walmart. Usually the only problem I encounter is the product I am looking for is not on the shelf. They are building a new Walmart behind the old one and the road is torn up and filled with ruts and potholes. They are also adding a roundabout and have a 4-way stop where there once was a stop light. I guess it is to get us acclimated to the idea of a roundabout. Traffic is congested in the area. People driving like idiots that have never driven before. The posts about the quagmire it has become are all over my Facebook page. I am off to drive through the pit of doom. Thankfully I drive an Explorer so I won't bottom out. But watch out for the potholes that can swallow you up.

I did get home safely. Almost had a subaru drive into the side of my Explorer. He was blowing his horn when the car in front of him stopped for the stop sign. When it was my turn I eased out slowly but hit my brakes when the moron in the subaru ran the stop sign.

@just4him I don't care for them at all. Everyone thinks they have the right away. Drive like maniacs and cause accidents. Even with the stop light there were many accidents. I can't wait to see how many will happen when it first opens.

@ElusiveButterfly I hate roundabouts. I was the one who almost hit someone a couple weeks ago and did a little bit of damage to my own vehicle because I slammed on the brakes so hard, but nothing serious, which was good.

I wish I could shop online, and then show up at walmart to pick up my order at a drive through, and never have to walk inside!

That would be lovely all but shopping for meats. I have to look at the package and check for fat and such. Wicked picky shopper when it comes to my meats and vegetables too.

@Jessicalynnt yes it would. Our local stores do not offer that service though. You can purchase other items online and pick them up.

The Wal Mart where hubby goes to work is in a massive mess of orange and white barricades. I feel for you.

Once this roundabout opens up, it will be a nightmare. People don't pay attention to the traffic laws as it is.

A couple of our bridges are under repair and one in particular is a busy route. It has been 2 years now and they are working on the right side at present time. Takes forever to repair a bridge.

Are you going to be taking old dirt roads to avoid the traffic?

The road into the plaza is torn up. They are putting in a roundabout and laying down new pavement to the store. It is a complete mess.

Be very careful as some people think that Walmart parking lot is a raceway. The potholes can cause you problems. hHope you have a good trip.

All in all it was a good trip. Was able to see my son for a few minutes. Bought him a wrist splint. He is paying me back tomorrow. The worse part of it was going in and out of the plaza. One irate driver ran through the stop sign. If I hadn't been looking for such things, he would have ran right into me.

Our Walmart is super small and has little to offer. Hoping the new one is better.

Potholes are also a hazard to your tires so be careful of a blow-out. Hope you trip to Walmart is successful and you can make it through the pit of doom without any incidents

I drive slowly and carefully. That road there is like going off road driving. Not cool.
