Gamble is a vice which many people have. I think sometime if not at all times, most of us think how one can get easy money. A lot of the people have done gambling and lost some money. Some on the other hand have won. So I am inviting views on which form of gamble has the least risk. Since I am starting the discussion I will commence with my view which is derivative transaction in stock market with a strict stop loss.

Investments seem like a much better choice than say poker or slot machines. In my opinion. Although slot machines are certainly more entertaining. Lol!

Isnt any investment a risk? I would say so. Stocks go up and down and companies go under. And then your money is reduced or gone in that case. I would call that gambling. And you are right, I do not trust that a lot of folks win big on slot machines.

Investment hardly falls within the definition of gambling. In my view in Slot machines your chances are dim.

@maezee I agree the prices go up and down but at the same time they do not give you the thrill of gambling unless you are heavily invested. My view about derivative was based on the fact that you play on the basis of margin money and not the value of the lot. In such a situation the capital invested in less.

I am not good at card games. Same question to the one I posed to @@beaniefanatic13, what has been your winning ratio ?

I enjoy gambling, mostly slots at casinos. I have lost and won, I never gamble more than I can afford to loose. If I win of course I'm very happy, and if I loose I had a good time along the way.

That is nice, What is your winning ratio? Further I am trying to know if there is a form of gambling which has a descent chance of winning. I mentioned my views in my post.

@zap_81, I have no idea the ratio, I'm sure I loose more than I win. Although I don't live near casinos anymore and don't get to go but maybe once or twice a year. I have had winning streaks over the years, but I still enjoy. The only guarantee to win, is to not gamble.

@beaniefanatic13 Agreed but there are times when you feel you should try your luck. That said at the end you do feel you should not have tried your luck.

I would not say that investment is a gamble if one knows what he or she is investing in, and has done sufficient research

@zap_81 do you consider derivative transaction to be a form of gamble then?

@Yh1001 Yes I do.

Exactly. So investment does not fit in this discussion.

Not sure as I don't gamble, but maybe small types of shares is less risky.

The reward on small types of shares will always be less. So I do not see that as a gamble.
