Oral Surgery

I found out earlier this week that later this summer or early fall I will be having some pretty major oral surgery. I have severely impacted wisdom teeth that need to come out. One is so bad that not only is it pressing on the nerves of other teeth – causing pain – but its roots are growing into the bottom of my sinus cavity on one side. There is no way around it, that tooth needs to come out and they might as well all come out if one is.
I'm more than a tad bit nervous about it. My dentist is going to explain to the oral surgeon just how bad my anxiety is so he understands. I wish I could avoid this but the pain and pressure being put on the nerves is getting worse all the time.

I am on some good new anti-anxiety medicine called Buspar. Am at a point where benzos are becoming addictive for me because I have to take so much to get an effect. Am doing pretty good...anxious but not freaking out completely.

I got my wisdom teeth pulled when I was like 16? It wasn't that bad. I had them surgically removed and my face swelled like a chipmunk. For someone who is afraid of blood, I recovered quite well. I was eating soups, liquids for just 2 days and afterwards soft/light food and everything healed nicely.

@Lolaze Hehe I hope you do not get swollen. You'll be okay after a few days and the stitches dissolve.

@infatuatedbby From what I'm reading, my stitches will actually have to be cut out a week after surgery. That sounds like the easy part though!
