Those Pesky Insects

It's been almost two months the moringa stalks I've planted before wasn't growing any more leaves. Although I thought at first that this is part of growth process of the tree, but I research about it and they supposed to grow fast. I got curious and removed the stalk by force, only to find it's under-neath had holes on it. Later I saw maggots and earth worms came out as it's been eating it from the inside. With that I pulled up the other stalks and it was the same results. I was so mad that I threw some of them since they are too small for repotting. However, It was different scenario to the seed, some of them grew beautifully. In desperation I quickly re-planted the grown ones to the plastic pot and removed the stalks. Some of them can still be used so I put them back into the water pot. I hope this time the remaining ones will grow with out a problem.

I planted moringa here and it grows bigger and bigger and we decided to cut the tree because we know, moringa will easily grow and sprout its branches. I think, your moringa tree was over watered that's why earthworms easily get inside its stalks, this moringa likes sunny season, only you have to do is to water them once a day and don't over watered it.

It looks like you are right because I've watered moringa twice a day plus the rain it would give much more water on it. But now I've read this from you, looks like I can try it again and make sure I don't over water them. Ooops! it's the wet season now looks like i need to put them on the shade. All i probably need now is more soil to try one more time.

@ida123 I was able to save some stalks and put it back in the water bucket hoping for it's roots to grow first and i don't have available stock of soil.

I haven't put them back into the soil since the risk of infestation is high.

If you can get diatomaceous earth, you might try mixing that in with your potted plants. If you get food-grade stuff it's not harmful to humans, but it kills insects. I've had to start using it to keep the ants out of my indoor plants... they seem to think they need to colonize all the plants I have in the window.
