Its a common thing to judge the character/intellect of a person by his /her looks only. If the person is well dressed and well groomed then no doubt he is an intellect, great personality. But a person with shabby dress is always looked down. I thing it is not true. i have seen great personalities wear a normal dress, not just to show off themselves. I think dress somewhats matters in judging but not all the time.

I seriously want this to vanish...there are some professions where looks matter but not everywhere...

Ya.I feel the same.I feel looks are something which is temporary and something that will fade away with time but your inner soul and personality is something that is immortal and will be there forever.People should know somebody properly then only make an opinion about him/her. :)

And yes, dress does play a major role in helping form judgments. So one needs to be careful about how they dress if they need to make a good impression. It's unfortunate that we have to bother. But it's the reality.

Dresses and clothes are extension of one's personality and mood and not of character I feel and believe in

As much as we all agree that we may, in all probability, come to an incorrect conclusion about a person judging by the way they look, I think we all do it and it is pretty much instinctive. I may not act on my judgments.. But I really can't help making those judgments. So I'd probably say that instinctively making judgments in our mind is not a bad thing but being judgmental is. We need to know the difference between the two
