#5 in my Top 10 Favorite James Bond Theme Songs series takes us to 1973 and the eighth Bond film, Live and Let Die, the first starring Roger Moore.
Paul McCartney and Wings were the band of record on "Live and Let Die," which was written by Paul and Linda McCartney, with orchestral arrangement by George Martin.
"Live and Let Die" was the most successful Bond theme up to that point. It was a Certified Gold Record, peaking at #2 (oh, so close!) on Billboard's Hot 100 and #9 in the UK. It was also the first nominated for an Academy Award.
McCartney's tune was also a groundbreaker. Instead of the usual heavily-orchestrated opener, "Live and Let Die" was the first rock music Bond theme, the first of a very long string of them. It truly is a Bond classic.

Even if they had not made a movie, it would still be a great McCartney fan.

One of McCartney's best songs. Slow and melodic, fast and rocking, and the little reggae bridge thrown in for good measure!

It is definitely one of his best. Yeah, I even thought about it for a minute. It's one of my favorites by him.

I could see it placing higher on other lists, honestly.

I liked him until he got too old but kept playing him anyway.

One of the best! Ever since I've watched that movie and the song kept on repeating in my mind. I love BOND movies!
