What exactly is a parade supposed to accomplish?

Rose Parade
United States
May 21, 2016 4:25pm CST
After such a long hiatus from Mylot I spent a long time last night and this morning trying to come up with ideas for discussions and I think I must be brain dead because nothing is coming to mind. Except for this. What is the purpose of a parade? Today where I live they have sectioned off the downtown area and it has made it a nightmare to get through that part of town. Apparently they are having a rose parade. Why? I asked a friend and their response was in celebration of something. Well I want to celebrate my dog not pooping on my carpet this morning but I don't think they'll let me have a parade to celebrate it. So my question of the day is what is the purpose of a parade?

in a celebration of something, in commemoration, or in giving thanks.

It would be show of force or exhibit of hardware if it were a military parade

So what you are saying is that basically my toys are bigger and better than yours? Kind of silly generally speaking.

@kbourgerie yeah silly but they could dictate world events and determine how many are gonna perish and that could be us, what things could achieve depends on perspective and which angle or side of the fence you look at things

Patsie wonderful to see you. You are still here after all this time. Glad you replied to my discussion. I personally don't get that excited about a parade and I'm not thrilled at all about the commotion the create. But that's just me.

There are different reasons for a parade. And yes it includes a celebration of something. Here it's more of giving the public an opportunity to see the different creativeness by the different sectors.

I think thats a good part of a parade. So in part it's a competition.

I have never understood why people are excited by a parade. To me, it is extremely boring.
