Have you seen a duck on the seashore?

I am asking the question because when I passed by the seaside this morning to catch the sun rise after the night rain, I saw the duck on the above photo walking on the shore. All I've known about ducks is that they love to go to the river, the pond or any puddle of water on land but being on the beach - I've never seen one till now.

Yes, it's a duck because it says "Quack" LOL! Talking about quack, I was so amused at the wedding reception last night because a bird in the huge cage that shouts loudly knew how to time its shouts in-between the numbers in the program after dinner.

Hahaha maybe that duck got lost. My brother's wife's family lives in a coastal area and when I visit their home I could see ducks in the seashore.

@sunrisefan Could be that her home is right there as well. Same with the ducks I saw at the parent's place of my sister in law.

Yes, it could have been probably lost but it seemed she was "at home" with the place.

@toniganzon Probably. The houses though are a bit farther. Hope no one gets any bad idea and "ducknaps" her hahaha!

You can find migratory ducks near the see, but this one is a domestic Muscovy duck escaped from a farm. I do not think that it will be able to survive alone in the nature.

We don't have migratory ducks in this country. All ducks are domesticated ones.

@toniganzon What about in the northernmost tip of the country?

Yes, you're right - this is a domestic duck and, as @toniganzon said, it might have strayed from its owners' home.

Hmmmmm....are you absolutely sure that's a duck? Looks like it wants to be more in the seagull family. Like a red-head-seagull. But maybe you're right, could be a duck. I live on the lake, and I've never seen a bird like that.... Either way, very nice photo.

It's a duck really, Ms. Melanie, and there are no seagulls in our place :)

I have not seen one on a seashore as yet, but I think they wil go anywhere there is water; even a puddle.

Yes, anywhere where there's water but plain water, not sea water :) That's why I was curious seeing this duck feeling "at home" on the seashore.

Thanks Sunrise fan. I have never seen ducks in sea shores. In Kolkata there are many ponds where ducks swim. But not on the beaches of Digha or Puri, etc.

@sunrisefan Yes sunrise fan. The duck might have flown to the shore by mistake.

@sathviksouvik I think it just strolled away from one of the houses from a short distance to the shore.

Different type of duck. We don't have this sort of duck here. We have mostly orange beak one.

That makes two of us :) I hope the owner lives nearby and notices that his duck had strayed away before anyone gets a meal out of his duck.

No, it was right on the beach "strolling" around, probably looking for something to eat :)
