I love Manhattan! My husband and I made a special trip to see our son and family.
Our little princess takes tap dancing lessons at the Broadway Tap and Theater School. She performed in TAPerella, a take on Cinderella, which was produced by Shuffles in The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College in New York City. Oh, the talent, scenery, direction, and live music from the orchestra!
The photo is of my very talented princess between shows.
My husband and I spent the rest of the day with my son and grandson at their gorgeous co-op, went out to dinner with them, and had no traffic on our drive home.
It was a very special day for us.

Sounds like you had the best time Dianne! I have never been to NYC. Perhaps one day my hubby will bring me. Not sure if I will enjoy the crowds of people. I am such a country bumpkin.

I love going to NY. There aren't as many crowds of people as you think, unless a dignitary or parade is in town. Then watch out! My favorite thing is to drive from the East Side, where the show/recital was held through Central Park to the West Side, where my son now lives. To me, there is no other city like it. I wish we could have a weekend home there, but even a studio apartment is over 1 mill.

@DianneN They just did a story on CBS Sunday Morning, about some of the new highrises they are building, where each apartment with a magnificient view will be 20 million. Obviously, the one percent is living in those!

@snowy22315 I'm not surprised. Madonna was not allowed to buy by the board of directors. We saw Bono's place and Jerry Seinfeld's place, yesterday. My son's place is not quite that high, but increased in value by 2 million since he bought, gutted, and renovated it about two years ago.

@DianneN That must be the equivalent to what we refer to as a townhouse. Isn't it funny how there is just a border between us, we share most of this continent, and yet we have such different terms for things.
I remember going to my niece, Clarissa's, dance recitals. I always thought that the littlest ones stole the show for me, because they have to be so precise for their age in comparison to the older dancers. I'm sure that she was as cute a frog as could be. What new and exciting things is that grandson of yours up to?

@Juliaacv A townhouse is totally different here. In New York City, there are brownstones, studio apartments, different numbers of bedroom apartments, etc. Most are in tall pre war buildings, originally built as mansions or new ones. My son lives in one of those. It has a lobby and doorman like a hotel, a courtyard, a green rooftop garden, great for dining and looking over the Hudson River, Central Park, and midtown Manhattan. He's on the corner of Broadway. When he bought his co-op, his second one, he hired an architect to design it the way he and his wife wanted it to look. They have three bedrooms, a huge living room and kitchen, and two bathrooms. Since he bought it, it has risen by 2 million dollars. Not a bad investment! It is simply breathtaking. When you get off the elevator on each floor, there is a small alcove with couches, a couple of doors to other apartments, and a door to the courtyard. He even has a back door in his place with 12 foot ceilings and 8 foot high doors and closets.
The little ones stole the show! They were not only adorable, but so talented. Not one made a noticeable mistake.
I will have to write a post about my grandson. He is unbelievable!!!

Thank you! She was a frog, lol! She was fabulous, but a lot of the kids have been dancing for years and are teenagers, so they got the leads. They are looking to perform professionally. She is there for rhythm for ice skating.
A co-op is an apartment you own. It's like a condo or house.

@DianneN The great thing is she seems to be so well rounded with all the activities she does . . . but I have a big spot in my heart for figure skating as well! Where else do you get to skate and dance to music - and have all the stage (ice) to yourself to be the star of your own performance?

@DianneN She does tap, ballet and jazz, its a threefer!! lol She really loves dancing but I don't think she will ever be a dancer. I think equestrian is more her style. She used to do gymnastics but decided that wasn't her thing!! A girl just gotta have fun!! lol I am wondering when her musical talent will rear its ugly head, that was what I did as a child!!

@BelleStarr It's good for kids to be exposed to all sorts of things while they're young. Some find their niche. I took piano for 8 years and still can't play. No talent here! My granddaughter also takes piano lessons. I don't know how she, or her parents, find the time. She also goes to religious school. I'd rather just sit and myLot lol!

How wonderful for you to see that - We love teaching Tap dancing as it has a different feel to performing than Ballet. Both are done at our studio but I want to say how wonderful to see that someone gave her flowers - Parents or other should always give any performing person flowers - its the way to do it!!

@DianneN she is very talented it seems, we have many gymnasts that come to do ballet for their poise and posture - they eventually leave at age 8 or 9 when that is all done. Tap dancers are born dancers, they feel the rhythm in their feet. My daughter is the Principal teacher, but I dance as well and help her out when she is ill or if she needs some help with facial expressions or other finer things daily teaching neglects. We have Classical examinations next week Thursday, I am fetching the New York examiner at the airport. All the best with her dreams and talents. I shall be watching to see more.

I didn't know you taught tap and ballet, nor had a studio! That is soooo cool! She took ballet until she was 5, but had to stop because she is a figure skater, and an excellent one at that. She practices every single day before and after school. Ballet helped so much with her balance. She's been competing and performing on ice since she was 3. Her coaches wanted her to take tap to help with her rhythm for her skating. She was discovered tapping last fall, and auditioned for a role in an off Broadway production of Peter Pan! She loves tap dancing, too, but figure skating is her one true love.

@Inlemay How exciting for you! Good luck to those students of yours. They sound top notch. I don't believe my ice princess is a born dancer, but the tapping has helped her feel the music better when she skates. She is also working on artistry when performing. Many thanks.

I'm heading to New York on Friday, from Florida. I am visiting a friend in Brooklyn, but I imagine we'll spend some time in Manhattan as well. I'll be there for 5 days, during which I will celebrate my birthday. I love NYC, and have been there many times, so I am excited to be going back!
