Big breeds or toy dogs?

I have had Labrador Retrievers, Brittanies, and now a miniature Schnauzer. At my age and place in life, I find having a smaller dog - my Schnauzer is about 20 pounds (9 kg) - is preferable.

I like smaller dogs myself, as I like to have them on my lap, and I can't with the big dogs. I have tow dogs that are lapdogs, and they are a pomeranian and a shishtuzu mix. They are both around 15 lbs or so. They are full grown small enough to carry around should I choose to.

I prefer small dog's, you can hold them in your lap and cuddle with them. I have a Shih Ztu who love's to cuddle with me all the time, if I had a big dog I wouldn't be able to cuddle them.

I had a big dog and a little a dog, both at the same time, and they were best friends. They both passed away, within only months of each other, but I sort of expected that. We were a big gang and it just didn't feel right when the little guy was gone. I miss them both. Large breeds, small breeds, heck, I love them all. R.I.P. Michele and Kevin. Wait for Mama.

I prefer larger dogs.
