I often worry about my mother being in the place she is in. Doubtful that they truly understand Alzheimer's I wish there was a place that specialized in that kind of care. Your meal seems a bit heavy on the carbs. That worries me that they are not considering the dietary needs of someone who is in need of a special diet.

@Hatley They should serve specialized meals for those that need them.

That's a shame she had so much trouble just to go to the bathroom. I'm glad you had a good dinner.

youiknow I did not know that adults could be autistic I feel for her as ordinary problmes like that any of us wou.ld just go upto her room but she had to be convlnced that was the b est course. I do think she needs to be in a mental ward with people who know what the heck they are doing.

@Hatley Isn't that a little unkind? She doesn't have a mental problem. She's autistic. She needs a little extra care and understanding, and more patience. She's not mentally imbalanced.

@just4him noIdidnt mean that; I meant she does have problems and Im no doctor but they say autism is a mental issue. I have never been anything but friendly to her in the few times I have met her. I meant that they are not trained in handling autism.

I agree. Stuff like giving her the bathroom key and taking it away is just mean. Autistic people have the same needs to be liked and wanted as everyone else.

It does not seem like they take very good care of people where you live. She has to miss her meal so she can go back to her room to use the bathroom? And you have to eat stuff that is bad for a diabetic diet?

no this timethe lady who is a utistic didnot miss her meal, she has sevre mental problemsshe is autistic and she had time to go to the bathroom in her ro om. gues I was not too clear. this place where I live dodgges the diabetc question by stating whenyou enter no diabetc diets so we have to watch for ;ourselves andnot eat what we know will shootup our blood sugar.

@Hatley That does not seem fair. I'll bet around 50% of people are probably diabetic and they should have an accommodation for that. So some days, there might not be much you can eat??

@akalinus A good, nourishing meal would be a diabetic meal. Decent fruits and mineral rich vegies, not carb heavy peas as a general rule but greens and broccoli.

Nice dinner but I feel sorry for the woman. It seems the place isn't ready to provide assistance to her.

That must have been upsetting for the poor lady. I can't imagine needing to use the bathroom and not having a way to get to do what needs doing.
