My husband has told me what this is but i can not get him to answer me and some one is asking me what this is. Does anyone know? I know he has said that it is a flower it just has not got any on it yet. I think that he said that it will be like a white flower but i could be wrong about that.

@Jdaw1985 - Ms Jennifer - Not being at all certain as to what kind of plant you were showing in that nifty image prefacing your interesting post here, I went over to the botanical library that is housed in the next city and looked it up. Wow. What a search that was. Took most of this morning, but the result was well worth the effort. Your vegetation is a baby giant Sequoia tree, known to the scientists in those white laboratory coats as "Sequoiadendron giganteum."
Where did you get your seed for the thing - or did a squirrel plant it or a passing raven just drop the seed there?

@Jdaw1985 - Ms Jennifer - Wow !!! You will probably attract thousands of visitors to your garden if you plant more of those Sequoiadendron giganteum things around your yard. You will make a fortune. They did not have to do the replanting stuff at the Sequoia National Park because those plants just sprang up naturally - probably from critters dropping the seeds around - or maybe the wind blew the seeds.
I have to tell you, Ms Jennifer, your idea about planting more of the things in your yard brought me a huge smile this morning - so I thank you for sharing the idea.

My first thought was that it could be an iris. Do they grow in your area?

no idea what flower / plant it is - impressive that it grows in such dry sandy looking soil though
