Hmm ur right. But I know few people around me who think philosophy is a cup of the torn out ones. They don't think it as a part of life. Which in turn says they don't believe or do not respect it.

Oh. .. Philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems concerning matters such as existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. In short it means everything that questions about real and practical.
