Ear straightening or slight lifting

My dog, a Collie/Shepherd cross has ears that are mostly down and hang floppy. I know it is too late to crop her ears as she is 1 1/2 years old. Further more, I think that is a painful thing to do to a companion creature. I've read about a veterinarian in Brazil, http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3923099.stm He states that there are injections of a product that could help to stiffen an ear. If my dog's could be treated that way and if they were raised slightly, perhaps 1/2 of an inch, rather than totally floppy, I'd be willing to consider such a procedure. Have you heard of this sort of treatment amongst your collegues. . I'd appreciate any feed back. Thank you... Jules
