I was having breakfast in my usual Cafe.. Chomping down the scrambled eggs and myLotting away When this tourist sat down on the next table. After flipping the map in 10 different directions, she finally looked my way for help. "Do you know where I can get the bus to Dubai?" she asked. "Where to???" "Dubai." "Erm I don't think you can get a bus there. Its very far away!" "Really? I thought its only 20min ride from the airport!" "Oh! You mean Dublin!!" - I offered. "Yea, that's what I said, Dubai." - She corrected me! So I gave her the directions to the bus stop heading into Dublin! "Just one more thing, can I pay the fare with (currency X)?" "No, we use EUROS! welcome to the EU." She stomped off, no doubt cursing me under her breath... I hope she won't be disappointed there ain't no desert in Dublin.. Ever met folks like that?? what would you have said if you were there? How's your Monday looking?

@hereandthere yes! it's annoying when you have to explain the Republic of Ireland is its own country! Part of EU, takes Euros.. Its not part of UK, no pounds or anything else is accepted here.

I would have enlightened her that she was in Ireland not Arabia, and Dubai was across a couple bodies of water and a lot of land mass before she would arrive at her destination. Then if she realized her mistake, I would give her the information for Dublin.

I think she wanted to go to Dubai and did not know Dubai and Dublin were different. Travel agent booked wrong ticket for her. Would I be angry or annoyed? No. But the maximum I would do is tell her I don't know.

@Drosophila Many from our country are ignorant. If she was carrying pound then she is ignorant about "Dublin" and "Dubai" was not the intended destination. I have a vague suspicion she belonged to my country.

Well, that depends... I might have ask her if she meant in the UAE, but if I am still eating my breakfast, probably not. I can be a teeny bit caustic if someone interrupts my breakfast, so she probably would have gotten, "So, you must be the village idiot. I never expected to actually meet one, but have always heard there is one in every town."

@Drosophila Well, omelets or scrambled eggs are my favorite breakfasts. I usually like to be helpful, but eggs get cold too fast! I am not a fan of cold eggs on my best day! I've been ask if I know how far it is to Monet (as in the painter) instead of Monett, the town 12 miles to the west of my hometown before... Yeah, she made the mistake of interrupting my omelet, too.... I told her if she was looking for the artist's grave, then she was a on the wrong continent. She looked at me like I was the simpleton... then ask, "Grave? I want the town." To which I replied, "Oh, you must mean Monett... that's 12 miles on Highway 60 West." At least she had the good graces to thank me for the directions, and started to walk away.... Then turned back to me and ask how did she find Highway 60 West.... I pointed out the window beside me and told her to try the Highway right there, with the sign that showed Highway 60 West. She blushed almost purple before turning tail and almost running to her car! Later, I drove to Monett just to make sure the 12 miles of straight stretch highway hadn't confused her any worse! I was being polite, right?! Idiots! They come in every shape and size! I've wondered why they always seem to choose to ask me instead of one of the people eating sandwiches or something else cold to start with? SMH!

@ChesneyM I do not come onto myLot until after I have eaten something. As I said, I can be a touch uhm... rough if I don't have something to eat... Usually, I am friendly even before I eat, but I have never suffered fools gladly. (I do my best to abstain from calling them fools, and I do know that even the best people among us can have one of those moments............ but bother me while I am eating eggs..... well, how can that be counted against me?) I wish we had an emoji that had puppydog eyes, a halo and little hands clasp together... It could also have a tiny pair of horns growing from its temples holding the little halo up... Yeah, that would be an emoji I could use more than I use even the raspberry guy emoji!

I find it improper to act like that especially in her position where she was the one asking for a favor for you to answer her question. She has an air of superiority. I wonder where does she came from.

Yes, I did think it was odd that she was trying to tell me that Dublin is really called Dubai.. She had an odd accent, not sure where from. And she wondered if she could use "pound" in Ireland. After the little exchange, I didn't feel like I wanted to explain how the Republic of Ireland is their own country. We are not part of UK. And if she continues to assume as such, she will just piss off the locals.

Sounds like she doesn't do much research when she travels so she must be disappointed wherever she goes. I hope the bus driver dropped her off in the middle of nowhere if she had the same attitude with him.
