When did you get your driver's license?

I didn't get my driver's license until I was 18 years old. I have vision problems so driving in general is not my favorite so I waited to get it. When did you get your driver's license? Did you get a driver's permit first? I didn't get a permit since in my state you don't need to get one first if you're 18.

In South Africa you can't get a driver's license until you turn 18, but I was so scared of driving that I only learnt to drive when I was 23.

@Bellatricks It's not just teens who do that. A lot of older people take too many risks too. If I'd realised how many risks some people are prepared to take back then, I'd probably never have learnt to drive at all.

I think it's safer when you're older to get a license. I see too many teens who are texting and driving who aren't being safe. They just don't get it.

I had to take my drivers licensing test twice. I was only sixteen years old when I decided to go for my license. My mother encouraged it because she knew it would solve the issue of fighting me in the morning to get up earlier than usual. I lucked out with getting my license this early. Nowadays you have to wait until you are eighteen in order to drive a car by yourself.

Yeah, I could have gotten a permit earlier but there are so many rules it's just best to wait until you're 18 if you can.

@Bellatricks That and I don't think I was responsible enough to handle a car that young. I completely destroyed my car by running it into the ground. I would never check the oil and constantly did things that could harm my vehicle. It was a bad idea to give me a license so early.

I received my drivers permit at 15 and half. I got my license a week after being 16. I have been driving for 10 years now but I get lazy to drive..

Driving isn't that fun to me. I don't have a problem with the actual driving it's the other drivers! There are so many crazy drivers out there it amazes me that some people are able to get a license.

I received my permit at the ripe ole age of 15 and I tested for my license once at 16 years old and since then I have been hell on wheel :-)

I made a driver's license for a motorcycle when I was 16 years old. If for a car driver's license I made when I was 22 years through service learning to drive.
