Last night, I talked to my son on the phone. He had you tube on. Suddenly the emergency broadcast system sounded.
They said that Yellowstone volcano was about to have a major eruption after a massive earthquake. Anyone within 300 miles of the park had to evacuate. The president was being flown to a safe location and would address the nation later that night.
This did not happen. It was some sort of hoax. We could not find anything about it on any news channel. I don't know why someone did this. What could they gain from it?
What do you think? Could the Yellowstone caldera be ready to blow up? Do you think it will ever happen? I don't know but I hope not.

Your volcanologists can tell or at least warn residents living near the area if they need to evacuate. Who is that "psycho" who made that prank announcement? Didn't he know it can cause panic? Authorities should track and punish him.

yes, the Yellowstone caldera will erupt, some day - probably sooner than later since we are actually over due for an eruption - having said that - well, sooner may not be in our lifetime... what's a few thousand years in geological time?

Scientists have said that the Yellowstone caldera could be ready to blow ... sometime in the next 50 years ... and the results could be massively destructive. However, geologists are not always right and we can't live our lives in fear of something like that.
