Everyone needs sleep. Somebody requires 6hrs and some for 8 hrs to keep themselves refreshed when they wake up. But, it is not only the duration of sleep but also the posture that is important which most of us uncared for without realizing that sleeping in bad posture will affect the spine and if continued for long it may lead to severe spinal complications. Bad Sleeping positions: Sleeping on your stomach is totally a bad posture in which your spine will be curled up and this may cause spinal deformities But, some adjustments may lessen the problem. But, better avoid sleeping in this posture. The fetal Position: This is one of the most natural positions. Here the lower spine is kept under lot of stress which is not desirable. On your Side: This is safer posture than the above two. But, sleeping on your side straight may lead blood circulation issues and cause stress on the relevant organs of your body. what you require now is lessening the stress on your spine while sleeping. This can be achieved using a pillow between your knees to equalize stress on your hips. keep a pillow under your knees while lying on your back. While sleeping on your side try to change the posture frequently.

I usually find sleeping on my stomach the most comfortable, I've tried sleeping on my back or my side but I can't get to sleep as quickly and I don't have any problems with my back.
