For the past 6+ years, Ive maintained a blog that I call Words of Wisdom. There has not been very much activity recently and I think it may be getting close to the time for me to retire the blog. I have a 9 year old daughter. When she was 3, I began to keep track of the funny things she had to say. As I explain in the blog tagline: "A sometimes confused — but often very wise and insightful — little girl, trying to understand and express herself in a grownup world. Many questionable quotes and quotable questions!" The real driving force behind the blog was her being a young child who would get confused with language and vocabulary. She would say things that were funny, but not by intention or design. As a 9 year old now, she has outgrown much of the cute toddler vocabulary. But I still like to go back through the blog at times to relive some of her best quotable quotes!

Young children do come out with some funny things. At least you will never forget your daughter's sayings if you have them in a blog.

It started out as just a Word document that I would save things to, then I started sharing them on Facebook so that our extended family and friends would see some of them. But with all the other junk on Facebook, it was hard for people to see or find the quotes all in one place. So that is when I decided to start a blog devoted solely to her "Words of Wisdom". I will eventually print it out and give it to her as a gift when she graduates from high school or gets married or some sort of life milestone like that.

You should transfer all the quotes from the blog so you can cherish them forever

Oh, I have them. I am not going to "shut down" the blog -- it will remain active online. I just don't foresee adding anything more to it.

Kids do have adorable vocabulary at that age.

What a coincident that I just publish a discussion with a similar topic. "looking at the world through the eyes of a child". Children see things differently from us. As adults we might say to ourselves, "oh how cute." without looking deeper beyond the "cuteness". It might surprise us that they can also be insightful and most importantly, honest.
